🌱 As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to end with some action ideas you can take to build your own community.

We know it is not easy to put yourself out there, but by finding like-minded people who enjoy the same things you do, you begin to find spaces that make you feel at home. That is what community is all about.

If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health please don’t hesitate to learn more about our services at 563-583-7357. If you are in a crisis and need immediate support, call or text 988 or visit 988lifeline.org 🌱

📣 We Value Your Voice 📣

Our team has developed a “Hillcrest Outreach Survey” that aims to answer, “What do our clients and community members want to see and hear from us?”.

This is your opportunity to share what interests you and how we can support. Your input will guide how our outreach team plans future events in the community. No idea too big!

The survey only takes 5-10 minutes and is for ANYONE in the community. Please share these flyers and the link below with anyone and everyone. We want to hear from as many people as possible. Your voice is important to us!

🌱 Our final C for Mental Health Awareness Month, is "Community"!

Jen Winkelmann, our Director of Clinical Services, shares a quote given to her by a friend. "We're born into this world looking for someone who is looking for us." - Dr. Curt Thompson

Jen, being a lover of attachment theory says, “I believe we are made for relationship, and so what Dr. Thompson says resonates for me deeply. We're wired to connect; community is where we connect most deeply, most meaningfully. When we're disconnected, too isolated (even if only emotionally), and out of sync with others around us, humans suffer."

"Our mental health can be a lot more shaky when we don't feel "seen" or "found" by another. So if, in these last days of Mental Health Awareness Month, you find yourself longing to be seen, to be connected, to find another human who is also looking for you, let my friend Amanda's borrowed words keep you company a bit longer. Don't give up! And perhaps, like me, keeping hope in the search for community might be the next best step you take in your relationship with yourself and with your own mental health." 🌱
