The Kindness Cabinet Community Fund is officially accepting online donations, and we’re calling on our community to help us make an even greater impact.

A friend stopped by the Kindness Cabinet to stock it and FaceTimed me while she was there. As we were talking, a gentleman walked up and asked if there were any beans inside because he needed them to go with dinner. Thankfully, there were.

He grabbed a few items and went on his way.

It was a reminder that the need is real. Families and individuals are using the pantry, and I couldn’t be more proud to be able to serve my community in this way.

Thank you to everyone who has donated food, shared posts, or helped keep the cabinet stocked. I truly couldn’t do this alone.

This July I’ll be traveling to Washington, D.C. as an invited awardee of The Courage Project. Not only did I receive a grant but I’ve now been invited to join fellow change makers from across the country.

For the past 12 years, I’ve poured my heart into serving others and showing up for my community. There were times I didn’t get the volunteers. Times I didn’t get the grant. Times things didn’t go the way I hoped. But I kept showing up and doing the work anyway.

To be invited into a space like this is something I don’t take lightly.I’m honored, grateful, and honestly still processing all this.

I’ll be representing Detroit, 1Mother2Another, and every person who has always supported me.
