Last week was incredibly challenging for the entire Jewish community in Detroit, Metro Detroit, and around the world.

We were happy to bring community members together for a home cooked Shabbat meal, and it was especially meaningful to be among friends and loved ones just one day removed from the horrific incident at Temple Israel.

We look forward to continuing Shabbat gatherings and more — proudly (and safely) growing and strengthening the Jewish community in Detroit.

Our next Shabbat dinner is in May — see you then!

Last month, we held a community meeting to share more about REFLECTION PARK, collect feedback, and inspire deeper discussion about the park's intended impact.

Our conversation was full of great feedback, brought forth cool facts and stories that we hope to include, and served as a great sneak peek at what is still to come!

If you're interested in contributing to the park's content, visit MezuzahDetroit.org/REFLECTION-PARK and click 'Submit a Story'.

What an evening! Thank you to everyone who came to Rooted in Detroit. It was a wonderful evening of connection and conversation, and the room was full!

We are especially grateful to our sponsor, the Applebaum Family Philanthropy Compass Fund, and our partner, The Samantha Woll Center for Jewish Detroit.

We are also thankful to our panelists, Rabbi Ariana Silverman, Ned Staebler, and Adam Cohn, as well as our participating organizations, Repair the World, Hillel of Metro Detroit, Gesher, Yad Ezra, Hebrew Free Loan, NEXTGen Detroit, Adamah Detroit, and the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan. And, a special shoutout to Bev’s Bagels for the $10 gift cards we were able to give away to all attendees!

Stay in touch — there is plenty more to come! And if you missed us Wednesday, follow along, reach out, and get involved!
