A special experience for a generous supporter. ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Recently, Covenant House donor Brian joined Mitch Albom on his radio show, an experience he won through the auction at A Night of Detroit Stars. Mitch generously donated the experience and a book collection to support our mission. Our CEO, Meagan Dunn, joined Brian to thank Mitch and celebrate his commitment to our youth.

We are grateful to Mitch Albom for his generosity, to Brian for his support, and to the team at the Fisher Building and WJR Radio for hosting this special moment.

Where youth dream big and take flight. ๐Ÿš€

Recently, five of our residents, Martino, Raoul, Jayae, Jamauri, and Antonio, joined Tracy Hill, Director of Clinical & Supportive Services, at the 8th Annual Detroit Youth Summit, hosted by LIFE Leaders Inc. at MLK High School. The event brought together Detroit youth ages 14โ€“24 and local changemakers for candid conversations on entrepreneurship, AI innovation, careers of the future, and civic engagement.

Our residents connected directly with community leaders, explored leadership programs and employment opportunities, and enjoyed food, activities, and raffles. We are proud to see our youth stepping into spaces where they can envision their futures and take the lead.

Today is Be An Angel Day. ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ’™
Created in 1993 to inspire generosity and empathy, this day is a reminder to act with kindness, love, and selflessness, the qualities that make a real difference in someone's life.

For the young people we serve, being an angel means showing them they are not alone. That they are seen and valued. That there is hope for their future, no matter what they've faced.

How to be an angel today:
โ–ช๏ธSend a message of hope
โ–ช๏ธSpread the word
โ–ช๏ธMake a donation to support youth experiencing homelessness

1 day until Sleep Out registration opens. ๐Ÿ•๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Here's our question for you: WHO are you Sleeping Out with?

Your coworkers? Your friends? Your family? Your organization? Your professional network? Your favorite group of people who are always ready to show up for a good cause?

Sleep Out Teams turn one person's commitment into a collective impact. Build a team. Set a goal. Rally your people. Fundraise together. And on November 19, Sleep Out together as part of a community standing with young people experiencing homelessness. And yes, a little friendly fundraising competition is absolutely encouraged. ๐Ÿ‘€

Throughout Sleep Out season, we'll be celebrating our Sleepers, highlighting teams making moves, and keeping an eye on who's climbing the fundraising ranks. So, start thinking about your team. Start thinking about your goal. And maybe start thinking about whose name you want to see at the top. ๐Ÿ†

Ten years old and already making a big impact. ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ’™ Meet Addison. Days before her 10th birthday, she set up a lemonade stand in her Rockford neighborhood and earned $55. Instead of spending it on herself, she chose to donate every dollar to Covenant House Grand Rapids.

Her kindness didn't stop there. Addie shared her story at the Black Cat Golf Outing, inspiring an additional $1,000 donation in her name.

Recently, she visited FOX 17 with Michelle Dunaway to talk about her experience. We are so inspired by your heart, Addie. Thank you for showing us that generosity has no age limit.

2 days until Sleep Out registration opens! ๐Ÿ•๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

What actually happens at Sleep Out? On November 19, our community will come together for an overnight experience centered on learning, connection, and impact. You'll hear powerful stories, learn about youth homelessness, connect with others committed to change, and spend one night without your bed, in solidarity with young people who don't always have one.

But the movement starts before November. Sleep Out is also a peer-to-peer fundraising challenge. Every participant gets a personal page and the tools to invite their community into the mission. From the moment registration opens, the challenge begins: build your page, rally your people, and see how much impact you can create.

One night can make an impact that lasts far beyond it. Registration opens Thursday. Get ready!

Showing up to stomp out human trafficking. ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ๐Ÿšซ

Our Outreach Manager, Stephanie Taylor, recently joined community leaders, survivors, and support organizations at the 4th annual Stomping Out Human Trafficking Awareness Rally.

The event, hosted by Detroit City Council Member Angela Whitfield Calloway and the Detroit Human Trafficking Task Force, featured a march, educational forum, and resource tables, all focused on raising awareness and connecting people to support. Our team was there to share resources and stand in solidarity with survivors.

We remain committed to educating, supporting, and protecting young people from trafficking.
