•• About Our Rescue Group ••

Make A Difference Rescue Inc.(MADR) is a 501c3 non-profit, no kill, canine rescue. We are proud to be one of the best protection shelters in Detroit licensed by the State of Michigan. We assist in pulling from rural area shelters with high kill rates, abused, abandoned and neglected animals. We help the dogs no one else will touch.


•• Adoption Events ••

We have adoption events every Saturday at Premier Pet Supply in Beverly HIlls from 1pm - 4pm. Go to our “Events” tab for info on our next events. If you would like to meet a specific dog at an adoption event, please private message us or use the “contact us” form through our website at www.makeadifferencerescue.com. Since we have over 60 dogs with the rescue, we can not guarantee the attendance of every dog each week.

All potential adopters are required to fill out an application which can be found on our website at www.makeadifferencerescue.com

We do home inspections for every dog, and cannot drive more than an hour

A fully fenced yard is required for our bully breed dogs and all puppy adoptions

All adult dogs have a one time adoption donation of $300

All puppies have a one time adoption donation of $350

If the dog is over 6 months of age, spaying and neutering is performed by the rescue and at the rescue's cost

“I Can’t Have My Babies Without You”

Sweet Luna is preparing to welcome her puppies into the world, but because of her small size she cannot safely deliver them on her own. Tomorrow she will undergo a medically necessary C-section so that she and her babies have the best chance at a healthy future.

Over the past week Luna has required multiple veterinary visits and progesterone testing to carefully monitor her pregnancy and determine the safest time for delivery. We have already spent over $300 on testing alone, and tomorrow’s surgery and medical care are expected to exceed $1,500.

This little girl deserves every chance we can give her, and those tiny lives growing inside her deserve the same.

We’re out of foster homes.

For puppies.
For adult dogs.
For the next dog that needs a second chance.

Every empty foster home means another life we can save. Every full foster home means we have to say “not right now.”

The heartbreaking truth? We have dogs that need somewhere safe to go, but nowhere for them to land.

You don’t have to adopt.
You don’t have to commit forever.
You just have to open your home for a little while.

🚨 Dudley needs out of the shelter. 🚨

Meet Dudley: part goofball, part sweetheart, full-time good boy.

Right now, Dudley is stressed in the shelter. It’s loud, overwhelming, and not the place where his personality gets to shine. He deserves a soft bed, a quiet home, and someone to remind him what it feels like to relax.

Once you meet him, you’ll see the real Dudley. The goofy boy who’s always thinking about snacks, naps, and how to get just a little closer to you on the couch. He’s got that “did we just become best friends?” energy and will happily accept all the belly rubs you have to offer.

He’s looking for either a foster or a forever home. Fostering gives him a much-needed break from the shelter while he waits for his family, and adopting means he never has to look back.

Meet Adele♥️

Adele’s story is one of heartbreak, survival, and hope. Found on the streets of Detroit, we later learned she was pregnant likely having litter after litter her entire life, used as a breeder until she was no longer “useful” and cruelly discarded.

Despite her past, Adele’s spirit is gentle and loving with her person and needs someone with patience. She gave birth to 14 beautiful puppies 12 survived and all have now found their forever homes. Now it’s Adele’s turn. 💕

This sweet girl is up to date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm negative. She’s hoping to do that in the comfort of a cozy, loving home not a kennel. We’re looking for a foster or forever home where she can finally be treated with the kindness she’s always deserved.

Meet Stewie♥️🐾

Stewie is a 3 year old Shepherd mix, we received a call about Stewie as he was hanging out on someone’s porch with a chain around his neck. We quickly picked him up and removed the chain, he seems to be a much happier dog now that the chains not weighing him down!

✨Enjoys his squeaker toys
✨Keeps himself busy with a bone
✨Good running or walking buddy

What do you do when you lose the only person you’ve ever known?

Teddy is asking himself that question right now.

This handsome 10-year-old Goldendoodle recently lost his beloved owner, and his entire world has been turned upside down. One day he was spending time with the person he loved most, and the next he was left trying to understand why they never came home.

Now Teddy is looking for a family to help heal his broken heart.

Teddy is a wonderful boy who still has plenty of life and love to give. He enjoys walks, car rides, and spending time with people. He is social, affectionate, and simply wants to be near those he loves.

Because Teddy has spent his life in a quieter home with an older owner, we believe he would do best with an empty nester, retiree, or family looking for a loyal companion to share life’s adventures. Whether it’s relaxing at home, taking a drive, or heading up north for the weekend, Teddy would be happy just being by your side.

What we want most for Teddy is what every dog deserves—to be loved, cherished, and part of a family once again.

Another backyard breeder victim: Luna isn’t even a year old, and she’s already facing a high-risk pregnancy.

A group of concerned individuals stepped in to help several dogs being used in a backyard breeding operation. One of those dogs was Luna. After taking Luna into her home and bringing her to the veterinarian, it was discovered that she was pregnant. Faced with the reality of a young dog carrying puppies and unsure of what to do next, she reached out to Make A Difference Rescue for help.

As we always do, we stepped in.

Luna was immediately examined by Dr. Wilson, who confirmed what we feared. Because of her size and breed, Luna will likely require a C-section for the safety of both her and her puppies. At such a young age, pregnancy itself places tremendous stress on her little body.

Right now, Luna is in the care of one of our experienced volunteers, where she is being closely monitored. We are tracking her progress daily, monitoring her temperature and estrogen levels, and working closely with our veterinarian to ensure she receives the best possible care when it is time for delivery. Her C-section is scheduled for Tuesday.

Sadly, Luna’s story is not unique. Every day we see the consequences of backyard breeding, where dogs are bred for profit with little regard for their health, safety, or future. The animals are the ones who pay the price.

Luna did not choose this life. She did not choose to become pregnant before she was even fully grown. She deserves the chance to safely deliver her puppies and begin a better future.

THIS IS DETROIT, MICHIGAN! Not pictures from a developing nation halfway around the world.

Thursday we responded to a report of two puppies being kept in crates outside in the heat. When we arrived, a man was selling barbecue food, junk, and puppies—no questions asked.

No concern for where they were going.

No concern for their health.
No concern for their welfare.

One little male weighs only 14 pounds and you can see every rib on his body.

How is this acceptable in 2026?

Where is the accountability for backyard breeders who continue to treat living animals like merchandise?

Thankfully, these two puppies are now safe. They’ve already seen our veterinarian, received their examinations and vaccines, and will never again have to wonder where their next meal is coming from.

But let’s be honest—this should never have happened in the first place.
