Make A Difference Rescue Inc.(MADR) is a 501c3 non-profit, no kill, canine rescue. We are proud to be one of the best protection shelters in Detroit licensed by the State of Michigan. We assist in pulling from rural area shelters with high kill rates, abused, abandoned and neglected animals. We help the dogs no one else will touch.


•• Adoption Events ••

We have adoption events every Saturday at Premier Pet Supply in Beverly HIlls from 1pm - 4pm. Go to our “Events” tab for info on our next events. If you would like to meet a specific dog at an adoption event, please private message us or use the “contact us” form through our website at www.makeadifferencerescue.com. Since we have over 60 dogs with the rescue, we can not guarantee the attendance of every dog each week.

All potential adopters are required to fill out an application which can be found on our website at www.makeadifferencerescue.com

We do home inspections for every dog, and cannot drive more than an hour

A fully fenced yard is required for our bully breed dogs and all puppy adoptions

All adult dogs have a one time adoption donation of $300

All puppies have a one time adoption donation of $350

If the dog is over 6 months of age, spaying and neutering is performed by the rescue and at the rescue's cost

🚨 REBEL IS READY TO STEAL YOUR HEART (AND PROBABLY YOUR PEANUT BUTTER). 😂🐾

Meet Rebel! She’s four years old, full of personality, and the kind of girl who thinks strangers are just friends she hasn’t met yet.

Want an adventure buddy? She’s in.
Want a walking partner? Grab the leash.
Want someone who will happily accept your snack offerings? Make sure peanut butter is on the menu. 🥜

Rebel still has plenty of playful energy, LOVES her toys, and could enjoy having another dog around after a proper introduction. Basically, she’s looking for someone to take her on adventures, play with her, and let her be part of the action.

But there’s one thing Rebel is NOT a fan of: shelter life.

The shelter is stressful for her, and this girl deserves so much more than spending her days waiting for someone to notice her. She deserves walks that don’t end back at her kennel, toys scattered around her house, adventures with her favorite humans, and a couch she can officially claim as her own.

Rebel is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly Heartgard. She’s ready for her next chapter!

🚨 BO BO IS THREE MONTHS OLD AND ALREADY HAS A BETTER WORK-LIFE BALANCE THAN MOST OF US. 😂

Meet Bo Bo. German Shepherd mix, former backyard resident, current work-from-home supervisor.

This little guy spent the beginning of his life living outside in a backyard. Now he’s discovered indoor living, and honestly? He seems to think he’s been promoted.

His foster works from home, and Bo Bo has taken on a very important role: sleeping at their feet while they work. He’s not demanding constant entertainment. He’s not getting into everything. He’s just happy to be near his people while they handle the boring human stuff.

Other dogs in the house? Cool. Whatever. He’s not particularly concerned with making new friends when he has humans to hang out with. 😂

He’s calm, sleeping through the night like a champ, and hasn’t had a single accident in his foster home so far. At THREE MONTHS OLD. Somebody check his résumé because this is impressive.

Bo Bo is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and ready to find a forever family who appreciates a puppy with a surprisingly chill personality.

Of course, he’s still a puppy, so there’s plenty of growing, learning, and classic German Shepherd shenanigans ahead. But so far, his idea of a perfect day is pretty simple: be inside, be near his people, and supervise absolutely nothing from a comfortable spot on the floor.

Honestly, same, Bo Bo. Same. 😭

🚨 DUDLEY IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR HIS NEXT COUCH. 🚨

Must allow snacks, naps, belly rubs, and absolutely no shortage of attention. Treats may be used as a bribe. 😂

Meet Dudley. A professional goofball, aspiring couch potato, and a firm believer that personal space is just a suggestion when you’re trying to cuddle.

Unfortunately, Dudley is stuck in the shelter right now, and the stress is getting to him. The noise, the chaos, the kennel life? Not exactly his idea of a good time.

Dudley would much rather be home with his people, following you around, enjoying a good snack, and settling in for a nap that somehow turns into three hours.

He’s got serious best-friend energy. The kind of dog who makes himself right at home and quickly becomes part of your everyday routine. And if you’re looking for someone to keep you company on the couch? Congratulations. You’ve found your guy.

Dudley needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER to give him a break from shelter life and let his personality shine.

Willow would like to speak to management about her current living situation. 🥲

Because this whole shelter thing? Not really her vibe.

Willow is 5 years old, a terrier mix, and a girl who would much rather be outside running around, playing with her toys, going for walks, and stopping every five seconds to smell something interesting. And when the adventures are over? She’d be perfectly happy just hanging out with her people. ❤️

She came to us as a stray from the city, and shelter life is stressful for her. We’d really love to get her into a home where she can settle in, get comfortable, and enjoy the good life she deserves.

A few things to know about Willow:
🐾 5-year-old terrier mix
🐾 Sweet and affectionate
🐾 Loves running outside, toys, and walks

🚨 BRUCE HAS A VERY REASONABLE REQUEST. 🚨

Bruce would like to clarify that he is a social guy. He enjoys making friends. He enjoys hanging out. He enjoys a little playtime.

What he does NOT enjoy is living with another large male dog.

Friends? Absolutely. Roommates? Let’s not get crazy.

Honestly, Bruce is looking for a pretty simple life. He’s great with kids, super friendly, and about as easygoing as they come. He’ll play with you for a bit, then go do his own thing. No need to entertain him 24/7. No need to plan his entire day around his hobbies. This man has mastered work-life balance, and frankly, we could learn something from him.

If you’re looking for a dog who will happily hang out with you without requiring you to make him your entire personality, BRUCE IS YOUR GUY.

He just asks that you don’t bring home a large male dog and expect them to become best friends under one roof. He likes his friends. He likes his personal space. We respect boundaries around here.

Bruce is READY for his forever home. He’s not asking for much. Just a family, a couch, some quality hangout time, and a home where he doesn’t have to negotiate a roommate situation he never agreed to.

🐾 We feed OVER 50 DOGS every single day, and we go through about ONE BAG OF DOG FOOD DAILY! That’s 30+ bags every single month just to keep their bellies full. ❤️

We’ve taken in so many dogs who needed somewhere to go, and we want to keep saying YES to the dogs who need us. But we can’t do it without your help. Before we can save the next dog, we need to make sure the dogs already counting on us have full bowls.

German Shepherd people, meet your next adventure buddy. 🐾❤️

Ringo is 3 years old, and he’s the kind of dog who makes you wonder how he’s still waiting for his person.

He’s sweet, social, loves people, and does great with other dogs. Walks? Absolutely. Road trips? Even better. Whatever the adventure is, Ringo is ready to be right there beside you.

If you know and love German Shepherds, you know how special that bond can be. Ringo is ready to find someone to share it with. Someone who will take him along for the ride, make him part of the family, and give him a place to call his own.

Truman has already fought harder than most dogs ever should.

He was just a baby when he was found in a horrific narcotics situation, abandoned and left to survive in heartbreaking conditions.

He should have been safe.

Instead, he was alone.

When Truman came into rescue, we thought the worst was finally behind him.

But his journey didn’t get easier.

Medical issues.

A failed adoption.

Being returned to rescue.

And then the devastating discovery that he needed TWO patella surgeries.

So Truman did what he’s always done.

He fought.

He made it through both surgeries. He healed. He kept going.

And somehow, through all of it, this little boy never stopped loving people.

Truman loves to play. He loves cuddles. He loves giving hugs. He’s the kind of dog who has every reason to be afraid of the world, but instead chooses to love the people in it.

He’s been through enough.

He shouldn’t have to keep wondering where he belongs.

He deserves a family who sees everything he’s overcome and says:

”You’re home. We’re not giving up on you.”

Truman has fought for his life.

He’s fought through surgeries.

He’s fought through being abandoned and returned.

Now, all he needs is someone willing to give him the one thing he’s been fighting for all along:

A forever home.❤️

From the streets of Detroit…to the Pet of the Week! 🤩

Maizey’s story is one that will stay with you. She was found wandering the streets of Detroit, carrying her deceased puppy through weeks of bitter cold. Despite everything she endured, Maizey has shown us just how sweet and gentle she truly is.

Since coming into our care, she’s completed heartworm treatment, been spayed and vaccinated, gained weight, and started to blossom. Now, she’s ready for the part of her story we’ve been hoping for: finding a family of her own. 🐾

Maizey loves car rides, playing in the pool, spending time with her person, and getting along with other dogs. She has so much love to give, and she deserves a home where she can finally just be a dog and enjoy the life she should have always had.

Let’s find Maizey her people. ❤️
