Wilford 🩶 🩶🩶
We secured this old man last week, and it was very clear that he was in poor condition. His eyes were significantly covered by his third eyelids, and his breathing was labored from a bad upper respiratory infection. He was in danger living outside on his own. We immediately knew that Wilford needed our help.
Wilford is estimated to be between 12-15 years old, and shows all the hallmarks of a cat who has lived outdoors for possibly his whole life. In the week he has been with us, Wilford has already been to the vet twice. His full blood panel revealed that he was anemic, had a high white blood cell count, and is FIV+, but remarkably, all his internal organs are in good shape. Wilford's teeth are atrocious.
If you feel sorry for Wilford, don't. He doesn't know that he should be pitied. His energy levels are climbing daily, and he has some gusto in him! His URI is being helped tremendously by antibiotics, and his eyes seem to slowly look less irritated.
Wilford is a giant baby! He can easily be handled, and is a little shy. 🥹 Wilford already got the hang of the litterbox, and uses it consistently. He leans in for scratches, and purrs when he's really feeling himself. Wilford is getting braver by the day, and indoor life is suiting him quite well.
Wilford likes:
✅ Neck scratches
✅ Stinky wet food
✅ A cozy bed
Wilford dislikes:
❌ Eye drops
❌ Oral meds
❌ Someone trying to sneak meds into stinky wet food
Wilford isn't quite ready to make it official with an adopter, but when he is, we hope that we will be overwhelmed with applicants who want to make Wilford's golden years truly sparkle. 🩶
