This month, our families explored the impact of the Standard American Diet and how highly processed foods, excess sugar, and nutrient-poor eating habits contribute to many of the chronic diseases affecting our communities, including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure.
Alongside , families were challenged to take a closer look at the foods they consume and recognize the influence they have on the health and well-being of their children. Change starts at home, and parents have the power to shape healthier futures for their families through the choices they make each day.
During our cooking workshops, and taught families how to turn the spinach and parsley they grew at into a delicious spinach parsley pesto pasta, proving that nutritious food can be both healthy and enjoyable.
