Congratulations Oweesta; we are proud to be part of this work!

Today, we are celebrating a major milestone: Oweesta Corporation has closed its first-ever New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) transaction!

With $16 million in NMTC allocation supporting the $73.4 million Spirit Lake Nation Tribal Health Clinic, this investment represents more than a first for Oweesta. It is a powerful demonstration of what happens when Native people, Native institutions, and partners come together to move capital and build a stronger future for our communities.

As Chrystel Cornelius, CEO of Oweesta Corporation, shared:
“This closing represents far more than Oweesta’s first New Markets Tax Credit transaction. It reflects the collective power of Native people, Native institutions, and our partners coming together to invest in the future of our own communities. For generations, Tribal Nations have understood that our greatest strength comes from our ability to work collectively and care for one another. Today, we are bringing that same principle to capital—mobilizing resources in ways that honor Tribal sovereignty and put Native communities at the center of their own economic futures.”
