We provide food, clothing, shelter and long-term life recovery programs for people who are homeless, hungry, abused or addicted.

Our mission is to rescue those who are homeless, hungry, abused or addicted, providing opportunities for hope, recovery and restoration through the love of Jesus Christ. We operate the following ministry centers around Des Moines:

-Bethel Mission, our shelter for homeless men

-Door of Faith, our long-term life recovery center for homeless men

-Hope Center for Women and Children, offering short-term programming and long-term life recovery for single women and mothers with children

-Hope Cafe, our community dining hall, serving free meals every day of the year to homeless, near-homeless and hungry people

-Hope Ministries Thrift, offering low-cost clothing, furniture, shoes, household goods and more at two store locations

Today we are celebrating Mendy!

As our Family Services Supervisor, Mendy pours into moms and kids helping them succeed as a family unit. We are so grateful for her heart to serve families as they navigate the challenges that brought them to our doors.

Each night we are sheltering around 275 men, women and kids who have nowhere else to turn.

But currently, our residential centers are running a little short on bedding. Specifically we need...

Throughout the year Hope Ministries provides opportunities for employees to participate in a variety of events to connect with other staff throughout our ministry. Last week, our team joined the annual hunger fight with Meals from the Heartland and packaged more than 1,300 meals feed hungry children around the world! Each nourishing meal will fill hungry stomachs and give renewed hope.

We are so grateful for generous partners throughout our community who have chosen to support our neighbors facing hunger and homelessness.

Recently, Project Give made a large donation of clothing, backpacks and hygiene kits they have been collecting all year long! In addition to their contribution, they joined us to serve meals to the women and moms with kids at our Hope Ministries Center for Women and Children. Their contribution is meeting practical needs and providing hope for individuals and families striving to move forward in life.

Every night here in Iowa, more than 3,000 people experience homelessness. Many are men and women who have lost jobs, families, and hope. Some are struggling with addiction or mental illness. Others are simply trying to survive one more day.

But because of your prayers, financial support and volunteering, lives are being changed. Through Hope Ministries, men, women and moms with kids are finding:

- Safe shelter when they have nowhere else to turn
- Warm meals served with love and dignity
- Life-changing recovery programs that help them rebuild their lives on the solid foundation of Christ.

Every meal, every bed, every moment of care is a reflection of Christ’s love — and a reminder that no one is beyond the reach of His grace.

Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need. On this World Homeless Day, we’re grateful for your partnership in shining His light into the darkness and offering true hope to our neighbors in need.
