Registration opens today for our Tween/Teen summer reading program: Introduction to Calligraphy, provided by the ASAP (After School Arts Program)

Part 1 (June 15 at 3:30 pm) Participants will begin by learning how to use calligraphy pens and tools, with guided instruction from Kris. Through hands-on practice, they’ll follow exercises and prompts designed to build confidence with letterforms, strokes, and technique.

Part 2 (June 18 at 3:30 pm) - Create Your Own Calligraphy Project

On the second day, participants will put their new skills into practice by creating a finished piece to take home. Choose a project that inspires you, such as a personalized calligraphy alphabet exemplar, a greeting card, or a favorite word, name, or short phrase styled as a frame-worthy work of art.

For those entering grades 6 - 12th. Registration Required; must attend Part 1 to attend Part 2.

“And as we travel, we’ll sing this happy song.” These words made my heart swell yesterday, sung by Coro, young singers enjoying the program collaboration of ASAP and Heartland Youth Choir. This choir joined the other HYC choirs on stage for their spring concert and performed beautifully, in 4 languages, after several months of rehearsing and getting closer as a group. Huge thanks to the amazing Mary Cravens Bartemes for directing this group and to Meier Bernstein Foundation for financial support. Bravi tutti.
