Evelyn K. Davis Center For Working Families Helping people connect to career goals and achieve financial stability through job development and career coaching, workforce training, financial education.

At the Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families, we’re helping families and individuals improve their financial position and connecting them with their work and career goals. From its location in the heart of Des Moines, Iowa, the state’s capital city, the Evelyn K. Davis Center is helping many Central Iowans build their educational and job dreams. This first-of-its-kind center is a beacon for those looking for educational, job training and career opportunities by delivering these workforce services. We’re preparing many Central Iowans to find their life’s calling as successful, working Iowans. The Center is a partnership between the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, United Way of Central Iowa and Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). Along with a grocery store located in the same building complex, the partnership is providing solutions to three crucial needs identified by local residents: workforce training, employment opportunities and grocery and retail services.

🇺🇸 Support the LSI Veterans Campaign: https://lsiowa.org/

Meet Ivan, a Career Coach at the Evelyn K. Davis Center For Working Families and a United States Army veteran who served from 1999 to 2007.

As a Power Generation Specialist, Ivan supported airfield operations by maintaining, troubleshooting and distributing electrical power systems to keep critical equipment operational. During his eight years of service, he was stationed in Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina, along with multiple overseas deployments.

One memorable highlight of his military career came in 2002, when Ivan was assigned to the security detail for the FIFA World Cup in South Korea, where he helped es**rt and assist international diplomats, celebrities and high-profile athletes.

Today, Ivan continues serving others through his work as a Career Coach at the Evelyn K. Davis Center.

We are proud to honor Ivan and all veterans who have dedicated their lives to serving others. ❤️💙

Through the LSI Veterans Campaign, we are raising funds to help expand access to mental health services for veterans when other resources are no longer available.

Proud to support those who served.

Staff had the opportunity to attend the 2026 JEFAS Business Excellence Summit, bringing together Latina entrepreneurs, business leaders, and community partners for a day of practical learning, meaningful connections, and conversations focused on what comes next.

Curtis participated as a panelist, sharing his expertise and perspective with attendees. It was a valuable experience and a great opportunity for our staff to represent our company while supporting entrepreneurship and the continued growth of our community.

Thank you to JEFAS for bringing together such an inspiring group of leaders and creating space for collaboration, learning, and connection!
