Today is SUDEP Action Day. Thank you to our Iowa SUDEP Ambassador, Jennifer Sime, who connects with Iowans who have lost a loved one to SUDEP or a seizure related death. She updates our Iowa Virtual Remembrance Wall, which is displayed at all our Iowa Walks and at our Iowa Seizure Smart Conference.

Thank you to our volunteers, families, walkers, sponsors and donors for participating in our IA Walk for Epilepsy - Quad Cities on Saturday! Around 100 people gathered and raised over $12,000 to support epilepsy programs and services and to walk & connect with others. It was great hear remarks from Dr. Assaf with the Center for Neurosciences, Kari Jones with the Epilepsy Advocacy Network and Jennifer Sime our EFIA Board President & IA SUDEP Ambassador as well as the new family teams in attendance. Thank you to our walk chair Lori Hartman for organizing a meaningful event and to her neighbor Joe with The Real Quad Cities Show for interviewing participants and putting together an incredible reel to educate and bring more awareness about seizures so no one faces epilepsy alone. 💜 https://www.facebook.com/reel/28713896874898083

Thank you to the Variety - the Children's Charity of Iowa for providing us a grant to launch the Erin's Embrace Program in Iowa! This program helps eligible Iowans with epilepsy receive an Empatica EpiMonitor seizure detection device at no cost with a prescription from their healthcare provider.
To qualify, you must:
✔️ Be an Iowa resident with epilepsy.
✔️ Be 6 -17 years of age.
✔️ Have a prescription from your healthcare provider.

Last evening, we presented the Seizure Recognition & First Aid Certification program to the Fairbank Fire Department and EMS team in Fairbank, Iowa. These dedicated first responders serve four rural Iowa counties—Buchanan, Black Hawk, Bremer, and Fayette. We’re grateful for their commitment to being better prepared to recognize and respond to seizures in their communities.
