🔥 JUST BE — EVERY OPPORTUNITY IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MINISTRY 🔥
One of my favorite ministries is the ministry of JUST BEING.
When you know your identity in Christ, wherever you go you have an opportunity to BE the salt, the light, the hands and feet of Jesus — a living epistle, maybe the only Bible somebody will ever read.
These opportunities happen EVERYWHERE.
At QuikTrip.
At the dinner table.
At work.
At church.
At the YMCA.
In the gym.
And here's another reality:
You're not going to get it right every day.
But even when you mess up, there can still be an opportunity for grace, humility, reconciliation, and ministry.
Today I'm in the gym supersetting chest and back — doing my little Jane Fonda workout 😂 trying to keep this body functioning.
A gentleman came over and told me I needed to move off one of the machines.
I responded, “I'm using both of them.”
He walked away upset.
And if I'm being transparent, I was irritated too. My first thought was basically, Who does this dude think he is telling me what to do? 😂
But then I sat there and thought about it.
First and foremost, I represent JESUS CHRIST.
But how I carry myself also reflects on my wife Rachel Knapp our family, Thugging To Loving Ministries, PAWSITIVE P**P & SCOOP, Kingdom City Church, and Hope Ministries.
There are people who know me from every one of those areas of my life.
And whether I'm wearing a Thugging To Loving hoodie or not, whether anybody even knows I'm a believer or not, I still belong to Jesus and I still have an opportunity to represent Him well.
People watch how we speak.
How we respond.
How we handle conflict.
How we treat people.
And sometimes the greatest witness isn't pretending we never mess up.
Sometimes the witness is what we do after we realize we messed up.
So I humbled myself, walked over to the man and said:
“Hey brother, that machine is open if you'd like to use it. And I apologize.”
He apologized too.
Then I asked him, “Are you a Christian? Do you believe in Jesus?”
He said, “Yes.”
I asked him what church he attended. He told me. I told him where I attend and shared a little about the ministry God has allowed me to be part of.
What started with tension ended with hugs, “nice to meet you,” and PRAISE THE LORD! 🙌😂
Two brothers in Christ who probably would have never spoken to each other again now had an opportunity to connect.
BUT GOD.
Then another opportunity walked through the door.
A younger brother I know who recently got out of prison came into the gym. I can tell he's still partly connected to that old life, but he's doing better and working on himself.
I simply said:
“Bro, you're looking good, man. Keep it up.”
That little encouragement opened a door.
Next thing I know, he's telling me he's going through some things.
I told him:
“Man, I get it. I spent 18 years in a cage. I lived that lifestyle.”
I told him about Thugging To Loving Ministries and said:
“Reach out if you ever need somebody to talk to or somebody to pray with you.”
He said, “I appreciate that, bro.”
That's ministry.
It doesn't always need a microphone.
It doesn't always need a pulpit.
It doesn't always happen inside a church building.
Sometimes ministry is admitting YOU WERE WRONG.
Sometimes ministry is apologizing.
Sometimes ministry is encouraging somebody.
Sometimes ministry is simply recognizing the person God placed right in front of you.
So today I want to encourage somebody:
🔥 JUST BE. 🔥
Did you fall short?
Get back up.
Did you respond wrong?
Go make it right.
Did you miss an opportunity?
Be ready for the next one.
Good situation or bad situation, getting it right or getting it wrong — every moment can become an opportunity for God to reveal Himself through your life.
Know who you are in Christ.
Walk with Jesus.
Love people.
Stay humble.
Remember who you represent.
And wherever God puts you…
🔥 JUST BE. 🔥
Be the salt.
Be the light.
Be His hands and feet.
Be a living epistle.
Let the world see JESUS.
