A huge thank you to Community State Bank for their generous $1,500 grant award supporting our summer ITLaunch camp for five Talent Collective DSM students!

Because of their investment, students will gain hands-on experience to careers in IT, build technical and professional skills, explore future career pathways, and grow confidence in a high-demand industry. Opportunities like this open doors and help students imagine what’s possible for their future.

And in these moments, you can see what happens when the two finally meet.

From classrooms to labs… shop floors to boardrooms… these students aren’t just observing, they’re doing. They’re learning real skills, building confidence, and stepping into careers that once felt out of reach.

This is the mission of Talent Collective DSM.
Not exposure for the sake of it, but pathways with purpose.
Not potential left waiting, but potential put to work.

Because when we connect students to real opportunities, everything changes:

May is National Youth Employment Month, but this work doesn’t happen in just one month. It happens every day through partnerships, belief, and action.

Our Senior Celebration + Networking Event was more than a send-off. It was a clear example of what happens when opportunity meets preparation.

Students showed up ready. Ready to connect, ready to learn, and ready to take their next step with confidence. And they didn’t do it alone.

Regina is a senior participant in the Talent Collective DSM program. Over the past year, she served as the East High School - Des Moines representative on the Bankers Trust Company Youth Board, an experience that allowed her to represent her peers while aligning with her goal of pursuing a career in business.

She has remained actively involved in multiple school activities while balancing two part-time jobs, even advancing to a management role at one of her employers. Regina will attend Iowa State University on a Science Bound Scholarship, where she plans to major in Agricultural Business.

Angel‘s journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when determination meets opportunity.

Just three years ago, Angel arrived in Iowa from Mexico knowing only one phrase in English, “hello, how are you?”

Today Angel is not only thriving. He is soaring. We are incredibly proud to celebrate Angel for receiving an $8000 scholarship from the Rotary Club of Des Moines on Friday.

Through resilience, hard work, and unwavering commitment to growth, Angel has shown what it means to see possibility beyond obstacles. He chose every day to work harder, dream, bigger, and build a brighter future.

Angel’s story is more than an achievement, it’s an inspiration.

It’s proof that with courage, perseverance, and support, incredible things can happen.
