For too long, corporate landlords and real estate developers have blocked efforts to lift the statewide ban on the local rent stabilization policies that our communities need.

This is our message to those running to be our next governor: It's time to stand with the people and prioritize solutions – like local rent stabilization – that keep us in our homes.

By Colorado Homes For All You say affordable housing, we say housing we can actually afford. As working-class people from across the state who are renters, we are struggling to keep up with our housing costs and we are being forced into impossible choices between rent and groceries, between staying....

Corporate landlords have driven rents so high that families are forced out of their neighborhoods and into making impossible choices between rent, groceries or healthcare.

In your campaigns for governor, when we ask you about unaffordable rents, your answers point to only one part of the equation: building more housing.

But you have a choice: Support rent stabilization so local communities can make rents affordable or keep relying on the corporate control of housing that broke it in the first place.

We think the answer is easy. But just in case, we’ll be at town halls, debates and events across Colorado to remind you.

Expanding the Cottage Foods Act finally PASSED!

Soon, small business entrepreneurs will be able to sell hot and temperature-controlled foods out of their home kitchens. It expands opportunities for home-based chefs and cooks without needing access to a commercial kitchen.

Your advocacy and leadership made this possible. Thank you for all the calls and emails you sent to your elected officials! Together, we can create good policies and positive change in our state.

Appreciating our volunteers the only way we know how: with good food, good community, and a silly photo booth.

Thank you to our Volunteer Appreciation Week food sponsors and to our dinner caterer Benoit Catering!

And thank you, volunteers for all that you do!

Meet our Nutrition Leader of the Month: Luz!

Luz volunteers in our kitchen with the nutrition team, and has been involved with our Cocina y nutrición and Diabetes Among Friends classes.

Luz says her motivation is her ability to practice healthy eating habits so that she can maintain good health, help the community, and walk with them in the journey to health (such as supporting community members with lowering their A1C).

Thanks for all you do to support the community, Luz!

"Should home cooks have the right to sell food out of their own kitchens?"

We say YES! Expanding the Cottage Foods Act would create more economic opportunities for small business entrepreneurs—and more opportunities to eat delicious food across our state!

The bill's sponsor, Rep. Gonzalez said, "This is a policy that will be a stepping stone for cottage foods vendors to eventually start a business and... have a restaurant."

Listen to Colorado Public Radio's story, interviewing local business owner Alejandro Flores-Munoz, about why this bill would make a positive difference in Colorado.

Many kitchens in Colorado crank out steaming pots of tamales for sale -- but it's not legal. Lawmakers are trying to add it to the growing list of foods that can legally be sold.
