Dry Bones Denver Dry Bones Denver is a non-profit organization that seeks to meet spiritual, emotional and physical needs of Denver's unhoused teens and young adults.

Companioning is our vital work. Dry Bones is a long-standing community of support among Denver’s unhoused teens and young adults. We have the simple but radical belief that companionship itself can be profoundly transformative. So alongside helping to meet emotional, spiritual, and physical needs, our true work is building ongoing relationships that remind the invisible among us of their immeasurable worth.

One of the greatest blessings of being around for 25 years is that we get to witness and enjoy each other’s lives unfolding over long seasons.

Jenna and Zay returned for a reunion visit last week. Jenna graduated from our job-readiness program in 2014 and lives in another state, and Zay was a part of our community for many years and still lives in Colorado. Both have been off the streets for a long time, work at great jobs, and we’ve all... grown up quite a bit.

Jenna said, “I’m the happiest I’ve been in years!”

As our lives keep unfolding, let me pause to say - we’re super proud of these two. More than proud, we all still love each other!

That’s a wrap on our summer season for ’26! While Dry Bones isn’t going anywhere, we have said, “See ya later” to our summer college Fellows and high school Elevations participants. We had a great season of picnics in the park, bowling outings, and building deep friendships.

It’s hard to express how special it is when people from various walks of life - whose paths have no reason to cross – get into the same space. Hearts collide and lives profoundly change.

This past week, we celebrated a huge milestone: our very first graduates of the Dry Bones Living Academy! 🥳🎓

These three have stayed passionately committed, invested heavily in their futures, and are stepping into their next chapters with strength and determination.

During the graduation ceremony, each graduate presented their capstone project alongside their personal mission and ethos statements.

We are so proud of you, Alicia, Tim, and Ray!

The new cohort of 8 will begin this September. Thanks to everyone who has helped make this program possible.

Thursday night dinner moves outdoors for the summer. And every week, Wonkey shows up with his big speaker to DJ, turning a public basketball court into a dance floor where everyone belongs.

Some of us don’t know where we’ll sleep tonight. Some of our bodies carry deep pain. Some are brand new here, visiting on an Elevations trip.

But when Wonkey hits play, everyone jumps up. The illusion of our separation dissolves into just “us.”

This is community.
