🌍 Spreading the Word: AFS Outreach in Action!
One of our team's big goals this year is simple: get out into our Colorado communities and introduce more people to the world of hosting and study abroad. That's exactly what our Outreach committee does — setting up an AFS table at local festivals, farmers markets, and community events to spark conversations and connect with folks who might not know AFS exists right in their neighborhood.
And honestly? It's one of the most fun ways to volunteer with us. You get a few hours outdoors, AFS swag and candy to hand out, great conversations with neighbors, and the satisfaction of planting a seed that could turn into someone's next host family or their teen's life-changing exchange year.
Some recent highlights: our table at the South Green Farmers' Market on August 30 was a huge success — over 20 people signed up for our volunteering/hosting mailing list on the spot! And at the Highlands Ranch Senior Parent Resource Fair on September 2, our volunteers connected with school counselors, left them with AFS care packages, and got invited back to build an ongoing relationship at that school. Every conversation — big turnout or small — moves us closer to our next host family or exchange student. 🙌
