May is a special month of honors and awareness! As it is both National Pet Month and National Dementia Awareness Month, I'd like to share a short story. The picture in the lower right area is my dog, Riddles, lying on my dad, Jim, to comfort him as his tremors become more pronounced with agitation. My dad lived with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism and when he would get frustrated or agitated, his tremors would intensify, especially in his hands. Without ever being prompted, Riddles instinctively knew what do. He'd just jump into my dad's lap and let my dad pet him and talk to him for hours sometimes.
