Here's another fine example of community service around our Mighty Ohio Kiwanis District. I have visited this club in the past and have enjoyed their warm hospitality and care for their community. Northwest Division of Ohio District Kiwanis packed the pantry at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio. This is an Ohio District Kiwanis First Family Project that was brought to us by Marcia Copeland Hudson, Governor of the Kiwanis Ohio District and first Gentleman Larry Hudson. The Kiwanis Club of Huber Heights, Ohio, is one of the newest in the Ohio District. Larry and I enjoyed being a part of their very first service project today. They were collecting free books for the children in the community at the Annual Marigold Festival. Coloring books with crayons and treats for the youth were distributed.

The club continues to focus on building membership. Today was the perfect opportunity to network with the community. Their charter party is scheduled for May 20. Charter information is included with this post. Thank you in advance for liking and sharing the pic. 💙💛

Tonight, we celebrated more than the chartering of a new Kiwanis club; we recognized the beginning of a lasting legacy of service in Conneaut, Ohio. The Kiwanis Club of Conneaut stands as a beacon of hope, compassion, and community, rooted in the belief that small acts of kindness can create lasting impact for generations to come. Anchored in service and united in purpose, this new chapter brings together caring hearts dedicated to uplifting children, strengthening families, and building a brighter future. Thank you to the Ohio District Kiwanis Membership team, under the leadership of Chair Rick Fox, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Talty of the Lake Effect Division, and the sponsoring Kiwanis Club of Ashtabula, Ohio, for building and nurturing this club. We also appreciate Governor Elect Judy Raub, ODKF President Elect Marla Marsh, and Lieutenant Governor Monica Marsh of the Queen City Division for making the trip to support this charter party.

Thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Beavercreek, Ohio, for sponsoring the GreeneMont Aktion Club. The Beavercreek Club is home to Kiwanis International Trustee Amy Zimmerman. She and her mother, Sandy, have been very instrumental in the opening of this club. We also appreciate the hard work and support by the Ohio Kiwanis District Aktion Club Chair, Del Ray. The Aktion Club rolled Cinco de Mayo, Election Day, and their Charter Party all into one celebration. We are so excited for you and can't wait to follow and support your progress.

Congratulations to the Kiwanis Club of Piqua, Ohio, on their 90th anniversary. Many members from past decades were present to celebrate the milestone event. Many stories were shared, including one experience from a member and his encounter with Past Kiwanis International President Walter Sellers. It was a heartwarming experience for everyone in attendance.

As Governor, I visited the Black Swamp Division, where I spoke passionately about the need for growth within our clubs. Today, I received a wonderful message from David Schumm, President of the Kiwanis Bryan Club: "Marcia and Larry, just wanted to let you know; we are up to 13 new members since October 1st- and still counting." The club began October with 29 members. This message warmed our hearts. It is great to receive positive feedback for the efforts of our District Clubs.

Also, congratulations to the Bryan Kiwanis Club member on his 71st membership Anniversary. At 101 years old, he is the last surviving charter member! 💙💛

Thank you Kathy Talty, Lieutenant Governor for the Lake Effect Division, for hosting us at the beautiful Ashtabula Arts Center during my recent Governor’s visit. Much appreciation to John Shouvlin and Pres. Sarah Frank for all of their hard work to make the evening unforgettable, and Ralph Bacon for his incredible on-the-spot sketch of me. I will treasure it always.

Congratulations to Amy Gallagher of Conneaut Kiwanis, Meriah Duncan of Kirtland Kiwanis, and Robert Schwarz of West Geauga Kiwanis for being the recipients of the Brilliant Star Certificates for their fantastic service and great commitment to the youth in your communities.

We were given a tour of the Hubbard House Underground Railroad Museum the next day. My visit was a lovely experience.

The momentum is real! ✨

On April 28, 2026, we gathered for another organizational meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Springfield Pike (Ohio)—a major step toward officially chartering this new club. We literally are just a few members shy of making this happen.

We are incredibly grateful for the dedicated leadership guiding this journey across the Mighty Ohio District. With heartfelt thanks to Governor Marcia Copeland Hudson, Governor Elect Judy Raub, Kiwanis International Club Opening Specialists Kathleen Moylan and Angie Duduit, Monica Marsh (Lieutenant Governor, Queen City Division & Certified Club Coach), Brian Yacucci (representative from the sponsoring Cincinnati Club), the ODK Membership Team, and Marla Marsh (Certified Club Coach).

This team’s passion and commitment are building something truly special. The future is bright for Springfield Pike—and for the children and communities we will serve. 💙💛
