Our vision is a community where children live in good quality housing, play in a safe, attractive neighborhood with thriving businesses, go to an excellent school, graduate college, and succeed in their lives as adults, giving back to others. We want these children to remain in the neighborhood as adults, not because they can’t afford to move, but because they could not dream of a better place to raise their own children.

💙 Meet Rebekah Cotner, LPCC-S! 💙

We’re excited to welcome Rebekah Cotner, LPCC-S, to East End Community Services by WestCare Ohio as our Licensed Clinical Supervisor.

Rebekah provides individual counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults. Her areas of focus include trauma, mood disorders, substance use, and family or relationship challenges. Limited case management support is also available to help individuals and families connect with community resources and services.

If you or someone you know could benefit from counseling services, we’d love to connect. Our clinical services are free for participants through December 31, 2026.

With a lot of pride and a few tears shed, we said goodbye to our FIRST Teen Campers to graduate our Camp Mariposa program ~ we celebrated their 60+ camps they’ve attended along with their leadership, kindness, curiosity and willingness to grow!

The weekend also included a photography lesson to give anothet tool to express feelings, zip lining and a fun, connecting mafia game throughout the weekend!

A big thank you to Rachel and the creative team at the Dayton Linus Project for presenting our two graduates with beautiful handmade quilts ~ a beautiful keepsake’s of their time with us 🦋

Since joining Youth Champions in January, Charles has embraced opportunities to give back to the community through service projects with the YWCA, Good Neighbor House, and Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Through these experiences, he has demonstrated a willingness to step up, lend a hand, and make a difference for others.

As he graduates and prepares to enter the workforce, Charles carries with him valuable experiences, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to serving those around him.

This year, Tyler and Aiden achieved something truly remarkable.

Not only did they graduate from high school, but they also became the first Camp Mariposa participants in Dayton to complete the program from start to finish. Tyler attended the very first Dayton Camp Mariposa in July 2018, and together, Tyler and Aiden participated in an incredible 110 youth and teen camps, virtual camps during COVID, and family engagement events.

Throughout their time with Camp Mariposa, they became leaders among their peers. They were known for their kindness, inclusivity, humor, commitment, and willingness to share their stories so others could learn, heal, and grow.

Tyler graduates from Belmont High School and will enroll in the Ohioans with Disabilities program this fall. Aiden graduates from the Scarlet Oaks Career HVAC program and plans to continue building a career in the HVAC industry.

Congratulations, Tyler and Aiden. Thank you for helping shape the Camp Mariposa community and for showing what perseverance, courage, and leadership look like. Keep soaring!

For the past two years, Detric has been a part of Youth Champions, working toward his goals and preparing for his future.

This spring, Detric graduates with a Construction certificate and is already taking the next step by applying for positions with local companies. His dedication and willingness to pursue new opportunities have prepared him well for the road ahead.

Three years ago, Donnie joined the East End Navigators basketball team. Since then, we’ve watched him grow as a teammate, a student, and a young man preparing for his next chapter.

This spring, Donnie earned his Construction certificate and is ready to enter the workforce. His willingness to learn a trade and begin building his career speaks to his determination and work ethic.

Whether on the court or in the classroom, Donnie has shown that success comes from showing up, putting in the work, and staying focused on your goals.

We’re proud to celebrate Jayla!

Jayla has been a part of Youth Champions for the past year and a half, and we are so proud of all she has accomplished during that time. After graduation, Jayla will be attending Clark State University to pursue a degree in psychology.

We are excited to see all that the future holds for her and know she will continue to make a positive impact wherever she goes. Congratulations, Jayla!

Continuing our Graduate Series, we’re proud to celebrate Devin!

***UPDATE***

Devin has been a part of Youth Champions since the 7th grade, and it has been incredible watching his growth and perseverance over the years.

Devin has been accepted into the nursing program at Wright State University.

We are so proud of the young man he has become and excited to see all that’s ahead for him. Congratulations, Devin!
