This new building at Dancing Creek Farm is more than just an addition—it’s a mission in motion.

Inside, a thoughtfully curated retail store will offer high-quality nutrition, enrichment tools, and essentials for dogs. Every purchase made will directly support Haven Mia Bella, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing long-term care for dogs in times of need.

This space will also house a community pet food pantry, helping local residents who are struggling to feed their pets. Because sometimes all a family needs is a little support to stay together—and we believe no dog should go hungry or be surrendered due to temporary hardship.

In addition, we will offer affordable holistic wellness services focused on prevention and overall health—not veterinary care, but supportive therapies that help dogs thrive:
• Red light therapy for healing and inflammation
• Hydrotherapy for mobility, strength, and recovery
• Salt therapy (halotherapy) to support breathing, skin, and immune health

Outside, a private members-only dog park creates a safe, enriching environment unlike anything in our area. Featuring a wading pool, shaded play spaces, and structured activity areas, it’s designed for both fun and purpose. This space will also provide daily enrichment for dogs staying with us long-term.

Because enrichment isn’t a luxury—it’s essential.

Since 2005, we’ve stood in the gap for families facing life’s hardest moments—military deployment, medical crises, rehabilitation, and unexpected life transitions.

Our mission is simple: keep dogs with the families who love them.

The revenue generated from this space will go directly to Haven Mia Bella, helping offset the cost of long-term boarding for:

Since 2005, we’ve done more than boarding.

We’ve provided long-term care, dog retirement, hospice, and pet trust support for dogs whose families needed a safe, stable place they could trust—sometimes for months, sometimes for years, and sometimes for the rest of a dog’s life.

Over the years, we’ve seen what happens when there is no plan in place.

Meet Nugget & Chena 🐾

These two fun-loving golden retrievers came to us all the way from Savannah, Georgia while their owner is deployed.

When their owner was called to serve, finding safe long-term care wasn’t easy. Through our door-to-door transport service, we picked them up and brought them to Dancing Creek Farm where they can stay safe and active until their owner returns.

At just two years old, they are full of energy. Their favorite things are running in the pasture together and chasing the flirt pole.

Through Haven Mia Bella, we are able to offer deeply discounted care to military families so they don’t have to give up their dogs during deployment.

Roman has been staying with us at Dancing Creek Farm since summer 2025 while his owner is deployed.

She didn’t have other options for safe long-term care. Through Haven Mia Bella, we’re able to offer deeply discounted boarding so military families don’t have to surrender their dogs during deployment.

Why Haven Mia Bella Matters

Since 2005, we’ve quietly helped military families keep their dogs safe while they serve our country.

Many deployments happen quickly. Families scramble to find care for the dogs they love, and the options aren’t always simple. While there are some foster programs out there, many require waiting lists, have breed restrictions, or can’t take dogs that need to be the only pet.

Sometimes a foster situation even falls apart after the owner is already deployed, leaving everyone stressed and trying to solve the problem from thousands of miles away.

That’s where Haven Mia Bella and Dancing Creek Farm step in.

Dogs stay in safe, structured boarding where their needs can be met—whether they require private spaces, special care, or simply more supervision than a typical foster home can provide.

One thing our deployed families often tell us means the most is connection.

Every long-term dog here is added to a WhatsApp group with our team, where owners receive photos, videos, and updates. Even while deployed overseas, they can watch their dogs run, play, and relax in real time.

Knowing their dog is safe, happy, and thriving gives them peace of mind during one of the most stressful times of their lives.

Since 2005, we have provided discounted long-term dog boarding for deployed military members through Dancing Creek Farm.

It’s how we started.

When a service member deploys, their dog doesn’t understand why their person is gone — and neither does the family left behind.

This is why Dancing Creek Farm is different.

We are not traditional boarding.

We specialize in long-term care.

Every long-term boarding family is added to a private WhatsApp group with our team. We send regular photos, videos, updates, and milestones. Military pets are a lifeline during deployment.

Imagine being overseas in a high-stress environment… and receiving a video of your dog running, playing, thriving, safe.

Imagine your children at home seeing their dog happy and cared for.

It makes a stressful time just a little easier.

It brings peace of mind.
It brings connection.
It keeps families emotionally anchored while they serve.

Ten years ago, over 50% of our long-term boarding capacity was discounted for military families.

Today, due to rising insurance, utilities, payroll, repairs, and overhead, we can only afford to offer about 30% in discounted boarding.

And deployment requests continue to increase.

Our Immediate Needs

We have paused plans for new construction.

Right now, our focus is:

• Upgrading existing cabins
• Electrical and plumbing improvements
• Structural repairs and weatherproofing
• Painting and maintenance
• Installing additional cabins specifically for the military discount program

We want to expand back toward serving 50% or more of our capacity at a military discount — but we cannot do that without reinvesting in infrastructure.

For years, the cost of providing discounts has limited our ability to upgrade and expand.

An Honest Letter From Our Farm

Since 2005, we have offered long-term boarding for deployed military families.

That’s how this began.
Just me… and one part-time helper.

Over time, we added a few more cabins to meet demand. We expanded into training and short-term boarding simply to stabilize cash flow and fill the gaps. Every year overhead increased — payroll, utilities, insurance, taxes, repairs. Like every small business, we’ve felt it.

I still work side jobs to cover my personal expenses. I’m not saying that to complain. I’m saying it because I believe in being transparent.

We added an online store selling quality dog food and supplements. The goal was simple: use profit to help support our long-term military boarding program. But the margins aren’t enough to sustain the need.

We’ve been trying to move forward with a larger building — a store, dog park, and wellness center — something affordable for our community that would also help fund the mission long term. Because that’s the key: sustainability.

Thanks to a generous donation, we were able to build the shell. But it will take another $60,000 to complete it — funds we simply do not have right now.

I considered GoFundMe. It feels like such a big ask.
I’ve watched other nonprofits raise large amounts. We quietly keep working and scraping by.

Haven Mia Bella has done so much over the years — offsetting long-term military boarding, helping families in transition, supporting rescues. But right now, our long-term military discount program is at risk. Not because we want it to be — but because the math isn’t working.

It wouldn’t mean shutting down.
It would mean turning families away.

That is heartbreaking.

Our cabins need painting. Flooring needs replacing. Maintenance has been pushed back because when we get slightly ahead, another repair shows up.

This farm was built on service.
And I still believe in it.

But I also believe in honesty.

We cannot continue this mission without community support, partnerships, or a new funding solution.

I don’t have all the answers yet.
But I wanted to share where we truly stand.

Sit with someone who has no family.
Bring a bottle of lotion to an elderly person living on a fixed income.
Offer encouragement to a young mom who feels overwhelmed or isolated.

Drop off socks at a warming center.
Take a hot meal to a neighbor spending the holidays alone.

Foster a shelter animal, or adopt one more. Donate pet food or toys to the Danville Area Humane Society or the Pittsylvania County Pet Center.
