Indigenous Peoples’ Day & Columbus Day

Today, we recognize two observances that reflect important parts of American history.

Columbus Day commemorates Christopher Columbus’s 1492 voyage and its place in the history of the Americas.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day honors the Indigenous peoples who have lived on these lands for generations and celebrates their cultures, histories, and contributions.

At C5 Texas, we believe learning about history from multiple perspectives helps our Leaders become Community-Focused, Challenge-Ready leaders who are prepared to understand and engage with the world around them.

Today is an opportunity to learn, listen, and reflect on the many stories that shape our history.

Our 10th grade Hammers kicked off their Leadership Project Planning Pathway and got to work turning ideas into action! They researched, connected, planned, and learned to lead as they explored three exciting project ideas: Children’s Hospital, Community Mural and connecting with a local Animal Shelter.

Through this experience, our Hammers are learning how to take an idea and turn it into meaningful community impact while building skills in leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.

Hammers & Parents: Please check your email for the full Pathway recap, group assignments, and next steps!
