October 29 is World Ballet Day, a global celebration of dance.

Texas Ballet Theater principal dancer Andre Silva is the subject of the latest KERA Arts Doc.

Behind the effortless beauty audiences see onstage, Silva says, is a demanding combination of physical and mental discipline.

“We’re athletes and artists,” he said. “People have that misconception of, ‘Oh, it’s so beautiful and graceful and light, and it looks so free and easy,’ but it’s actually extremely hard.”
