Human Rights Initiative of North Texas, Inc. Promoting international human rights through local service to refugees and immigrants who have suffered human rights abuses. We are regular working people.

http://www.hrionline.org *HRI cannot give legal advice about specific cases over a social media platform.* We are lawyers and social workers, pastors and students. Through a network of dedicated volunteers, Human Rights Initiative helps those who have suffered terrible wrongs at home for worshipping their God. For speaking out against oppression. For being women. We provide legal representation a

nd social services free of charge to those who have fled persecution and arrived in Dallas, Texas with nothing. No family, no friends. No money. And often, very little hope. At Human Rights Initiative, we provide the resources – the hope – these courageous people need to leave their persecutors behind and begin anew.

This is what community looks like. People coming together to ensure no one has to walk alone.
We’re incredibly grateful to Jenny Walker, Megan Carlton, Goodfriend Beer Garden & Burger House, the East Dallas community, HRI board members Meghan McCaig, Dr. Anita Kelley, and Jonathan Macke, and countless others for showing up in such a meaningful way on Sunday, April 26th.
Because of your generosity, we received hundreds of essential items and raised cnitical funds to support our clients as they navigate the legal system after surviving human rights abuses.
If you’d like to be part of this work, we invite you to get involved. Every act of support makes a difference.

This past Saturday, HRI had the pleasure of joining the Community Earth Fest, hosted by our longtime friends at Community Unitarian Universalist Church of Plano.
Our incredible Board Secretary, Alayna Thomas-Click, represented HRI and had a wonderful time connecting with community and church members throughout the event.
Moments like these remind us that our work is powered by community and that behind every conversation is a shared commitment to dignity and safety for those we serve.
If you’d like to be part of that impact, we’d love your support. Every contribution helps us continue this work.

HRI will be closed on Tuesday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day.

We pause our work on this day to honor the courage and sacrifice of veterans who have defended the ideals of life and liberty- values that are at the heart of our mission to support immigrants seeking safety, dignity, and a chance to rebuild their lives.
