My Grandpa Redden always met his patients where they were in life. He believed sometimes just listening to someone's story was the greatest medicine they needed. He didn't judge but instead focused on helping them solve the problems at hand. He offered what we may refer to as indigent care in modern times, because he unequivocally saw the value in each patient even when they didn't have the resources themselves to pay. He treated his patients as family.

I've been keeping his legacy alive through Redden Gardens and the Covunity fridge. Now I can also honor his medical legacy... I'm excited to partner with the Northern Kentucky Health Department to offer a wellness kiosk to the community at the site of his former medical practice. Rooted in harm reduction, the kiosk like the fridge meets people where they are and offers help for immediate, acute needs.

Thank you Northern Kentucky Health Department for installing wellness kiosks across the region. We are the most recent addition with one next to our Covunity Fridge :) Find out more at https://nkyhealth.org/harmreduction/

Free wellness kiosk, right beside the fridge
The Northern Kentucky Health Department installed a free, judgment-free wellness kiosk immediately to the left of the main fridge at Redden Gardens. It should be ready for use by the end of the day. Like the fridge, it will be open to everyone around the clock: take what you need, no sign-up and no questions. It is stocked with lifesaving and everyday health and safety supplies.
Harm reduction meets people where they are, without judgment. The idea is simple: keep people alive and safer today, prevent overdoses and the spread of infection, and make it easier to reach help when someone is ready for it. It treats health and dignity as things everyone deserves, no matter their circumstances.

We've modernized our website so it should be easier to view on mobile!

Redden Gardens is a community allotment garden in Covington's Eastside neighborhood, with rented plots, shared harvests, educational projects, public plantings, and space for neighbors to learn by growing together.
