IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE COOKEVILLE HUMAN FUND
As the Cookeville Human Fund has grown, so has the number of requests we receive. Because of this, I’ve taken some time to reevaluate our mission and return the CHF to the purpose for which it was originally created.
The CHF was never intended to operate as a social service program. It was created to give law enforcement officers a resource to provide immediate, short-term assistance when they encounter someone in need during the course of their duties.
Going forward, CHF assistance will primarily be officer-initiated.
Assistance will be considered on a case-by-case basis based on the circumstances, available resources, and the discretion of the officer and CHF. Assistance is not guaranteed and is not intended to provide ongoing financial support or supplement an individual’s regular living expenses.
The CHF does not provide assistance for rent, utilities, ongoing housing, major vehicle repairs, recurring financial obligations, or similar expenses. The CHF will also not serve as a referral or funding resource for outside agencies or organizations.
Thank you for supporting the Cookeville Human Fund and helping us continue to make a difference in our community.
