Intermediate 3rd Place Phalaenopsis japonica Grown by Jan Danciger.

Jan brings in this beautiful species (syn. Sedirea japonica), native to Japan and Korea. Unlike many other Phalaenopsis species, this species grows in cool to intermediate temperatures, although it will probably tolerate warm temperatures (58°F -75°F at night). Grow it in shaded to dappled light conditions. Water heavily while it is actively growing, but the roots must be able to dry quickly after watering. Gradually reduce water from autumn through winter.
