Blackpoll Warblers have been spotted at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center! They are on their journey to parts of northern Canada to begin their breeding season, so visit us this week for a chance to spot one before they are gone.

Did you know...

🖤 Blackpoll Warblers are long-distance athletes and they hold the record for the longest overwater flight for a songbird.

🤍 Female Blackpoll Warblers also return to the nest site of the previous year and mate with male holding that territory, whether or not he is already mated!

🖤 Courtship and nest building are deliberate and protracted, and begin later in the season than in most warblers. This is why you often see these warblers near the end of spring migration.

🤍 Blackpoll Warblers have yellow legs, a solid black cap, and white cheek, unlike the Black and White Warbler.

The Grange Insurance Audubon Center will be open from 12pm-5pm today, May 27th. Normal hours will resume tomorrow!
