🎊 Happy 🎊

Created by artist Luísa Lacerda from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the hand-embroidered work brings the 2026 World Migratory Bird Day theme to life and highlights how community science and everyday observations contribute to protecting migratory birds across the globe.
The 2026 campaign artwork features migratory species, including the Cinnamon Teal, Merlin, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Barn Swallow, Oystercatcher, Spoon-billed Sandpiper, and Abdim’s Stork.

Each demonstrates how community science efforts, such as migration counts, nesting surveys, band sightings, and habitat monitoring, support conservation across regions and cultures!

🗓️ Mark your calendars! 🗓️

Columbus Audubon’s monthly programs are free events, typically held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center from September through April.

These programs feature a Conservation Spotlight, a Keynote Speaker on topics related to birds and conservation, a bird quiz, and a door prize drawing.

Attendees can also enjoy refreshments and social time before the program begins at 6:30 p.m.

Join Olivia French, a local naturalist and yoga teacher, for a 60-minute outdoor yoga class this Saturday from 10:00-11:00am.

Participants will flow through accessible yoga poses inspired by birds!

🧘‍♀️Attendees should bring a yoga mat, blanket, or towel to use during practice as yoga mats will not be supplied. Attendees should also bring a water bottle and anything else that would support their practice like a pillow, yoga blocks, or journal.

🌤️Classes will be held outside, weather permitting. Otherwise, they will be held inside the Grange Insurance Audubon Center.

We are so grateful to National Audubon Society 's U.S. Government Affairs team for helping prepare the front bed at Grange for a large native plant installation!🌿

As you can see, this amazing crew rolled up their sleeves and accomplished an incredible amount of work, helping get the site ready for its new native plantings. Their efforts will support habitat for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife while creating a beautiful demonstration garden for the community.

Thank you to Felice Stadler, Megan Hayes, Jesse Walls, Greg Taylor, Erik Schneider, Priya Uppuluri, and Chris Dragisic for taking time out of your working retreat to contribute to this meaningful conservation project. We appreciate your dedication and enthusiam! ❄️

This Red-shouldered Hawk is wondering if you are coming to our next beginner bird walk on Saturday from 10-11:30am!

Experience the joys of fall migration first hand with the Grange Insurance Audubon Center! These guided bird walks are led by experienced Columubs area birders (either a member of our education team, or a Columbus Audubon Chapter member) and are the perfect way to see another side of the city.

Follow your curiosity at the next Second Saturday Kids Day! This month, WOSU Public Media are on the road at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, and partnering with Columbus City Schools to have exciting hands-on learning experiences and activities!

At each Second Saturday event, children will experience learning through characters they already know and love and explore themes that combine imagination, interaction and technology to investigate art, science, math and reading.

This weekend, meet special guests Phoebe and Jay from the hit PBS series Phoebe & Jay!

If you're lucky, you may even get to see an Eastern Phoebe, and a Blue Jay!

Last night, Grange Insurance Audubon Center welcomed artists and the public to join us for the opening of the 6th Annual "Scenes from the Park" Plein Air Competition Exhibit.

Artworks were judged by Amy Adams, a Columbus area oil painter. Amy’s work has been featured in juried exhibitions across the United States, including California, Montana, Massachusetts and Florida.

There are still three spots available for tomorrow's Important Bird Area Kayak Tour!

Important Information:
🦆 This Kayak trip is an Audubon Member exclusive!
🛶The tour will depart from the Scioto Audubon Metro Park boat launch following a brief safety and informational introduction.
⌚The tour is approximately 2 hours in length.
👤Single person and tandem kayaks will be available.
🐦 Participants will be provided a life vest, binoculars and a bird guide to use on the tour.
🌟Staff members from the Grange Insurance Audubon Center and Metro Parks' Outdoor Adventures team will be your guides along the river.

Thank you to the City of Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks for partnering with GIAC on this event allowing us the opportunity to offer this experience free of charge to our members!
