I’m on top of the world because it’s T-9 days until Jackson, Tennessee. Taking a moment to soak this all in.

Between packing lists, wardrobe fittings, final preparations, and counting down the days, it’s hard to believe that Miss Volunteer America is almost here. What once felt so far away is now just around the corner. For now, you’ll find me enjoying an afternoon on campus, reflecting on the opportunities that education has provided and the doors that scholarships can open.

As a first-generation college student, the educational opportunities I’ve received through this organization have helped shape my future, provided financial ease, provided and paved a way for law school, strengthen my voice, and continued to fuel my passion. While I’m a Buckeye at THE Ohio State University I’m excited to show Miss Volunteer America THE Brittney Putman. In just 9 days, I’ll have the honor of taking those experiences to Tennessee and showing what Buckeye pride looks like on the Miss Volunteer America stage.

•June 1st•

Cue the excitement….because it’s officially Miss Volunteer America Month!! Currently running on excitement, caffeine, and a whole lot of Ohio pride. For so long, June felt so far away. Now, somehow, it’s here.

I don’t know exactly what the next few weeks will hold, but I do know I’m walking into Tennessee ready to serve, ready to hug my girls, ready to embrace every moment of this incredible opportunity, and ready to show you the best version of Brittney. Until then, you’ll find me smiling at random because this dream is finally within reach…. I think the younger version of me would think this is pretty cool.

Here’s to THE month, THE dream, THE representation, and countless memories waiting to happen.

•Wardrobe is Complete•

Today was the day! All of my official competition wardrobe for Miss Volunteer America has officially been picked up, and Team Ohio is counting down the days until we head to nationals in just TWO short weeks! 🇺🇸❤️

I cannot wait to share the impeccable looks, details, and the hard work that has gone into preparing for this experience. Every piece has been carefully selected, curated, and crafted and I’m so excited to represent Ohio on the national stage.

A huge thank you to Henri’s Cloud Nine for sponsoring my evening gown and for their incredible help in finding and perfecting so many other pieces of my competition wardrobe. Your support, expertise, and kindness have helped make this dream possible, and I am so grateful.

•The Cleveland Guardians First Pitch•

Little me would never believe this. ⚾️

Growing up, Cleveland Guardians games were more than just baseball in our family… they were memories, traditions, and moments we shared together. So getting the opportunity to throw out the first pitch for my family’s team as Miss Ohio Volunteer was truly a full-circle moment. From being the little baseball girl in the stands dreaming big, to standing on the field representing the state I love this… is a moment I’ll hold onto forever. I even got to wear my late Papa’s jacket to bring him with me. Thank you to and most of all for making my childhood dream come true. Here’s to dreaming boldly… because sometimes those little girl dreams really do come true…

•One Month from today•

In exactly one month from today, a new Miss Volunteer America will be crowned…

This journey has taught me that Miss Volunteer America is not “created” the moment a crown is placed on someone’s head. She is built in the moments long before the stage, through resilience, compassion, service, leadership, and the courage to keep saying yes when life tries to tell you no.

For anyone wanting to join this organization, you don’t become her by trying to fit a mold… you realize you already are her, in who you are. In the way you show up again and again when it’s hard. In the way you choose service even when no one is watching. In the way you stay true to who you are, even when the world tells you to change. Because when you live in your authenticity, your story does not disqualify you…it propels you.

That is why I’m not hoping to become Miss Volunteer America someday… because I already live as her every day. So America, here I come representing the millions of Americans whose lives have been impacted by addiction, proving your beginning does not dictate your becoming, and not to step into a title, but to stand in the truth that I already am Miss Volunteer America.

I am so honored to have attended the 140th Anniversary Gala of The Salvation Army of Ashland, celebrating over a century of compassion, service, and unwavering hope in our communities.

A night filled with reflection on the lives impacted, the families strengthened, and the continued mission to meet human need without discrimination. Grateful to stand among so many who believe in restoration, dignity, and second chances.

Here’s to 140 more years and beyond of “doing the most good”

Yesterday was Ohio Tourism Day at the Ohio Statehouse and it’s easy to see why I’m proud to call this state home. From its hidden gems to its big-city energy and everything in between, Ohio is full of stories, resilience, and beauty that often goes unnoticed. Grateful for a day that celebrates the places, people, and experiences that make Ohio feel like home. 🏠 ❤️
