🚨 Heat Stroke in Dogs: Know the Signs & Act Fast! 🚨

As a veterinary technician, I know how fast heat stroke can happen — even on days that don’t feel that hot to us.

🐶 Signs of Heat Stroke in Dogs:

* Heavy panting or rapid breathing
* Bright red or pale gums
* Excessive drooling
* Lethargy, disorientation, or collapsing
* Vomiting or diarrhea

⚠️ Take EMERGENCY action if you see these signs:

1. Move your dog to a cool area immediately
2. Offer cool (not cold) water
3. Wet them with lukewarm water & use a fan
4. Call your vet or emergency clinic ASAP

💥 Brachycephalic breeds (like Pugs, Bulldogs, Frenchies) are at much higher risk due to their compromised airways.
💊 Dogs on behavior meds (like trazodone, fluoxetine, and many others) may also have reduced ability to regulate body temp — keep extra close watch!

🔥 Hot pavement, lack of shade, and even a few minutes of exertion can be dangerous. Let’s keep our pets cool, safe, and happy this summer!
