Moving beyond “being in charge” to real leadership requires personal reflection and development, strong communications skills, knowledge of advocacy, problem-solving and bridge-building, and the willingness and ability to develop the leadership potential in others. Don't wait for a crisis; learn how to create and build interfaith networks who will be your allies during these stormy times. Interfaith work is not just kumbayah any more (if it ever was). The instructor has served on the board of a statewide interfaith group for more than 15 years (and is current chair). Professor Emore has worked with that group to: meet crises head-on (like the so-called Muslim travel ban and the Mother Emanuel race killings); educate communities by forming panels and by speaking about both her own religion and her dedication to interfaith practices as a way to decrease tension and build peace; and building alliances with other organizations, from equal rights to senior services to the governor's office. In the process, she has learned about other religions in ways that can only happen through friendships and community-building. https://buff.ly/UKytgn5 Saturdays in September
