The South Carolina Sporting Dog Association is proud to endorse RRep. Bill Hager-South Carolina House 122 for his support and appreciation of South Carolina’s sporting dog community!

Rep. Hager has a special appreciation for our sporting traditions, including the unmistakable sound of hounds on the chase. We loved hearing about the Hagers’ own bird dog and discussing the special place these dogs can hold in our lives. These connections are a reminder that sporting dogs are more than a tradition — they are part of our families, our heritage, and our way of life.

The SCSDA remains committed to standing guard for our sporting dog community and protecting the rights of responsible hunters and sporting dog enthusiasts across South Carolina. We believe in supporting legislators who appreciate our traditions and understand the importance of preserving our sporting heritage for future generations.

The South Carolina Sporting Dog Association is proud to recognize Representative Lucas Atkinson, representing South Carolina House District 57, for his support of our sporting dog community and the traditions that mean so much to our members and their families.

Rep. Atkinson has taken the time to speak directly with our members at the SCSDA Annual Banquet, demonstrating his willingness to engage with our community and hear from those who are passionate about preserving our sporting traditions.

He also cosponsored House Resolution H.5811, which affirms support for the lawful and responsible tradition of hunting deer with dogs in South Carolina.

Our sporting dog heritage is an important part of our state’s outdoor traditions, culture, and way of life. The SCSDA is committed to working with elected officials who engage with our community and understand the importance of protecting the rights of responsible sportsmen, hunters, and sporting dog enthusiasts.

We appreciate Rep. Atkinson’s engagement with our members and his involvement in recognizing this longstanding South Carolina tradition.

Our members are the heart of the South Carolina Sporting Dog Association! Because of YOU, we can stand guard for our sporting dog traditions and make our voices heard across South Carolina.

Last week, the SCSDA was proud to sponsor a team at the South Carolina Southern Sporting Classic (sporting clays fundraiser) hosted by the South Carolina Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus and the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation. This event brings sportsmen and women, legislators, and conservation partners together to build relationships, discuss issues affecting our outdoor traditions, and ensure our community has a seat at the table. Being present and involved is an important part of protecting our sporting dog heritage!

Today, we’re celebrating more than just a birthday — we’re celebrating a leader who gives so much of his time, energy, and heart to the South Carolina Sporting Dog Association.

As the SCSDA President, Paul works tirelessly to protect our sporting dog traditions, stand up for our members, and help move our association forward. His dedication doesn’t stop when the workday ends. Even tonight, Paul and Erin spent their evening in Eastover at the SC Sportsman Classic, continuing to show up and represent the sporting dog community.

Paul, we are grateful for your leadership, your dedication, and everything you do for the SCSDA. Today, we hope you know just how much you are appreciated! 🥳🧡

The South Carolina Sporting Dog Association is proud to endorse Cody Simpson for SC Commissioner of Agriculture.

Coming from generations of farmers, Cody understands the deep connection between agriculture, wildlife, and South Carolina’s rural communities. He understands that protecting our crops and managing wildlife go hand in hand with preserving the traditions of the people who live and work on the land.

Cody spoke to our members at this year’s Annual Banquet and understands firsthand the important role that SCSDA members and dog hunters play in responsible wildlife management. For generations, farmers and dog hunters have worked together to manage deer populations, protect crops, care for the land, and preserve a way of life that is deeply rooted in South Carolina.

Today we’re proud to recognize SPORTSMAN HUNTING CLUB as a Platinum Club Member of the South Carolina Sporting Dog Association! 🎉

Established in 1962, Sportsman Hunting Club has a long-standing tradition throughout Sumter, Lee, and Clarendon Counties, built on family, friendship, community, and a deep love for the outdoors and our sporting traditions.

Their commitment to community goes beyond the hunt. Sportsman Hunting Club proudly gives back to the Salem Black River Historical Church and the surrounding community, helping preserve the traditions and values that make these communities special.

We are proud to endorse our very own Matthew Chapman for Clarendon County Council District 2.

Matt is an avid sporting dog enthusiast and a model for our sport. He currently serves on the SCSDA Board of Directors, a volunteer position that requires monthly board meetings, meeting with legislators across the state and advocating for our sporting dog community.

Matt has also attended and spoken at SCDNR public meetings, standing up not only as an SCSDA board member, but as a member of the sporting dog community.

We are proud to support Matt and hope all of our members in District 2 will vote for Matt Chapman on November 3rd!

The South Carolina Sporting Dog Association is proud to endorse Rep. Roger Kirby for SC House District 101.

Rep. Kirby has been a longtime supporter of the South Carolina Sporting Dog Association and our community. He has attended our Annual Banquet for many years and most recently joined us as a guest speaker at our 2026 Annual Banquet, taking the opportunity to spend time with our members and hear directly from the sporting-dog community.
