Wellford
Spartanburg

History was made for our Cambodian community in South Carolina once again. 🇰🇭🤍

This concurrent resolution officially passed through the House of Representatives and Senate recognizes the rich culture, history, resilience, and contributions of Cambodian Americans in our state.

For many, this may just look like a framed document but for us, it represents generations of sacrifice, survival, rebuilding, faith, and community. It means our voices are being heard. It means our stories matter.

We want to sincerely thank the South Carolina House of Representatives and Senate for this recognition, and a very special thank you to State Representative James Teeple for introducing this resolution and believing in our community from the very beginning.

This marks the 4th official recognition for the Cambodian community in South Carolina:
•City of Wellford
•Spartanburg County
•Governor’s Proclamation
•The House of Representatives & Senate Resolution

We have also recently received news that another town will soon recognize our community as well, with more details to come.

These recognitions represent more than a moment. They reflect visibility, cultural appreciation, unity, and the continued growth of our Cambodian community for future generations.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, advocated, and stood alongside our community throughout this journey. Together, we continue making history. 🇰🇭

The Cambodian community has come so far. From families who arrived in America as refugees searching for peace and opportunity… to raising business owners, graduates, artists, leaders, and future generations right here in South Carolina.

Now it’s our turn to continue building that future together.

Voting is more than politics,
it’s about our families, our schools, our neighborhoods, our businesses, and making sure our community is seen and heard.

Every election matters.
Every voice matters.
Every vote matters.

The Cambodian Association of South Carolina encourages our community to:
✅ Learn about local elections
✅ Encourage our youth to get involved
✅ Show up for our community

Many of our parents and elders sacrificed everything to give us opportunities they never had. Participating in our civic process is one way we honor those sacrifices and continue creating change for the next generation.

Let’s continue uplifting one another, supporting our community, and making history together. 🇰🇭✨

HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE IN SOUTH CAROLINA 🇺🇸🇰🇭

Today, we stand in a moment that will be remembered for generations.

For the first time in our state’s history, Cambodian Heritage Month has been officially recognized at the STATE LEVEL making South Carolina the 2nd state in the entire nation to achieve this honor.

This is not just a win for us here locally…This is a victory for every Cambodian in South Carolina, across the United States, and around the world.

We extend our deepest gratitude to State Representative James Teeple for believing in our vision, standing with our community, and helping make this historic milestone possible. Your leadership and support mean more than words can express.

We also want to honor and recognize the Cambodian Association of North Carolina for being the first in the nation to achieve this recognition and for paving the way for our community. Your leadership opened doors and inspired what is now becoming a powerful movement across states.

This moment is a reflection of unity, resilience, and the power of coming together with purpose. Through our strong partnership with Generations 4 America. we have built a bridge connecting culture, community, and leadership to elevate and honor our heritage on a level never seen before in our state.

We did this together. For our parents. For our children. For our future.

This is OUR history. This is OUR legacy. And this is only the beginning.

South Carolina 🇺🇸🇰🇭

On behalf of our Cambodian Association of South Carolina and our community, it is truly an honor for us to present this proclamation to you, Neak Kru Nikki, and the Robam Dance Team not just as recognition, but as something for you to keep… a symbol of the legacy you continue to build.

Neak Kru Nikki, you are more than a dancer, you are a teacher, a leader, and a true keeper of our culture. Through your guidance and dedication, you are shaping the next generation, making sure our traditions are not lost, but carried forward with pride.

You are the definition of preserving culture. Because of you, our history lives on not just in memory, but in every student you teach and every story you pass down.

You are the tie that connects our past to our future.

From all of us, thank you for everything you do for our community and our people.

During our Khmer New Year celebration, we made history.

We presented not one… but TWO proclamations to our community for Cambodian Heritage Month,
one from the City, and one from the County.

In the middle of celebrating our culture, our traditions, and our people… we were also being recognized.

For a community that has endured so much, this moment means everything.

This is for our elders who carried our culture through the darkest times…
and for our children who will carry it forward with pride.

This is what Cambodian Heritage Month is truly about honoring where we come from, celebrating how far we’ve come, and continuing to rise together.

Today… we made history. 🇰🇭

This moment didn’t come easy. It comes from generations of pain, survival, sacrifice, and strength. From our parents and elders who came here with nothing
but carried everything inside them… their culture, their stories, their resilience.

And today, because of that… we are finally being seen. We are finally being heard.

From the city… and now the county
we are making waves and making history.

On behalf of the Cambodian Association of South Carolina, we give our deepest gratitude to Mayor Rice, City Councilwoman Christie, and Lekesa. Thank you for standing with our community, for opening doors, and for recognizing a people whose story deserves to be honored.

To our team: we did it. We really did it.
Every long day, every sacrifice, every moment we pushed through… it was all worth it. This is history, and every one of you is a part of it. I’m so proud of us.

This is bigger than a proclamation.
This is legacy. This is healing.
This is for our ancestors… and for the generations that will never have to feel invisible again.

We made history, but this is only the beginning.

❤️🇰🇭
