As costs of prescription medicines continue to rise and the numbers of uninsured reach all-time highs, providing a cost-effective source for life-sustaining and life-saving prescription medications becomes critical to the low-income uninsured. The number one chronic illness in children is tooth decay, 51 million school hours annually are missed due to dental related pain or infections. Through edu

cation, prevention and restorative dental services and access, Welvista makes a difference. Welvista exists to provide prescription medications at no cost to the low-income uninsured. That is the stark choice that more and more low-income uninsured individuals face. No individual should have to choose between food or medicine.

We're highlighting Dr. Lee Walker, who has been caring for students in Dillon County since 2004 through our Smiles for a Lifetime program. A Fort Mill native, Dr. Walker graduated from Clemson University and the MUSC College of Dental Medicine. She considers her Dillon Smiles team like family and is passionate about helping children achieve healthy smiles. We recently connected with their Outreach Team to learn more about the valuable resources available to South Carolinians facing hardship, including utility assistance, energy-saving education, and support for those with special medical needs.

At MAP, we know that health and stability go hand in hand. That's why partnerships like this matter. By equipping our Community Outreach Advocates with additional resources, we can better connect the people we serve to the support they need, whether that's medication assistance, utility help, or other essential services.

💙 Behind every application is a person—and every person deserves support. One patient shared that learning about Welvista’s Medication Assistance Pharmacy through a healthcare provider opened the door to medications that would have otherwise been out of reach financially.

Just as meaningful was the support received during the enrollment process. A caring team member took the time to answer questions, provide guidance, and ensure the application was completed correctly every step of the way.

We're proud to help patients navigate the process with confidence and connect them to the medications they need. Stories like these remind us that great care starts with compassionate support.
