On April 30, we attended Farmworker Justice’s “Connecting Partners for a Stronger U.S. Food System – Southeast Regional Convening,” where one message stood out clearly: farmworkers are essential to our food system, yet they are too often excluded from conversations about hunger and food insecurity. The people who plant, harvest, and sustain our food supply deserve to be included in the solutions and supported as a vital part of a resilient food system.

The conversations surrounding workforce stability, food access, collaboration, and community impact were thoughtful, impactful, and timely. We left feeling inspired by the collective dedication to creating change and optimistic about what can happen when organizations, advocates, and communities work together toward a shared goal.

El 30 de abril asistimos al evento “Connecting Partners for a Stronger U.S. Food System – Southeast Regional Convening” de Farmworker Justice. Un mensaje importante fue que los trabajadores agrícolas son esenciales para nuestro sistema de alimentos, pero muchas veces no se les incluye en las conversaciones sobre el hambre y la inseguridad alimentaria. Las personas que siembran y cosechan nuestros alimentos deben ser parte de las soluciones y recibir apoyo.

The 4th Annual South Carolina Farmworker Outreach Workers Network Event was held on April 29, 2026. The SC Migrant Ed. Program/ Programa de Educación para Trabajadores Migrantes, Grow Early Learning, and the South Carolina Agricultural Worker Health Program convened to coordinate summer outreach plans.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to share emerging trends, best practices, and updates on upcoming events and initiatives supporting farmworker communities across the state.

🦷 National Farmworker Awareness Week | Ward Dental Clinic Recap | March 24-26, 2026

During National Farmworker Awareness Week, more than 50 agricultural workers received dental services by Classy Smiles/ SC Dental Screenings at our clinic held at St. William’s Catholic Church in Ward, SC. Services included exams, x-rays, fillings, extractions, routine cleanings, and deep cleanings. These services are vital, as untreated dental issues can affect nutrition, sleep, and the ability to work during long days in the fields.

We are grateful to Diocesan Migrant Farmworkers Ministries for opening their doors, sharing information on their food and clothing distribution, and explaining how Catholic Mass is organized for H-2A workers in surrounding counties to support their spiritual needs and build community. 🙏

Thank you to Rural Health Services Agricultural Workers Program, SC Migrant Ed. Program/ Programa de Educación para Trabajadores Migrantes, SC DEW Farmworker Program, SC National Farmworker Jobs Program, Grow Early Learning, and SC Legal Services Migrant Unit for providing valuable resources while workers and families waited to be seen.

This event was a meaningful way to show appreciation for the hardworking agricultural workers who contribute so much to our communities. 🌱

🦷 Semana Nacional de Concientización sobre los Trabajadores Agrícolas | Clínica Dental en Ward | 24-26 de marzo de 2026

Durante la Semana Nacional de Concientización sobre los Trabajadores Agrícolas, más de 50 trabajadores agrícolas recibieron servicios dentales con Classy Smiles / SC Dental Screening en nuestra clínica realizada en St. William’s Catholic Church in Ward, SC. Los servicios incluyeron exámenes, rayos X, empastes, extracciones, limpiezas regulares y limpiezas profundas. Estos servicios son vitales, ya que los problemas dentales no tratados pueden afectar la nutrición, el sueño y la capacidad de trabajar durante largas jornadas en el campo.

Estamos agradecidos con Diocesan Migrant Farmworkers Ministries por abrirnos sus puertas, compartir información sobre su distribución de alimentos y ropa, y explicar cómo se organiza la misa católica para los trabajadores H-2A en los condados cercanos para apoyar sus necesidades espirituales y fortalecer la comunidad. 🙏

SC Farmworker Service Providers Institute | March 20, 2026

We were proud to participate in the SC Farmworker Service Providers Institute, a great opportunity to network and collaborate with organizations serving agricultural workers across South Carolina.

Presenters included SC Migrant Education Project, SCAgWHP, SC National Farmworker Jobs Program, ACLU of SC, SC Legal Services, SC DEW Farmworkers Program, and the Consulate General of Mexico in Raleigh. Together, we shared resources and strengthened partnerships to better support farmworker communities.

Events like this help improve coordination of services and expand access to important resources for agricultural workers and their families. 🌱

🦷 Barnwell On-Farm Dental Clinic | March 11-13, 2026

More than 50 agricultural workers received dental services at Chappell Farms in Barnwell provided by Classy Smiles/SC Dental Screenings. Services included exams, x-rays, fillings, extractions, and cleanings, helping prevent serious oral health issues and supporting overall well-being.

Thank you to Chappell Farms for hosting, Low Country Health Care Systems for on-site screenings and HIV testing, and SC Migrant Education Program, Grow Early Learners, and SC DEW for providing valuable resources. English classes were also offered to support workers beyond healthcare. 💙

Más de 50 trabajadores agrícolas recibieron servicios dentales en Chappell Farms en Barnwell, proporcionados por Classy Smiles/SC Dental Screenings. Los servicios incluyeron exámenes, rayos X, empastes, extracciones y limpiezas, ayudando a prevenir problemas dentales y apoyar el bienestar general.
