Celebrate this beloved Columbia tradition with us at Stormwater Studios on Thursday, November 19, from 6–9 p.m. Enjoy original art, twinkling lights, live performances, and one-of-a-kind holiday gifts from local artists.

The evening is also the opening reception for our Resident Artists' Semi-Annual Exhibition (on view November 18–29).

✨ Masterpiece Monday: Lauren Andreu’s Starbucks Mural ✨

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, this week’s Masterpiece Monday highlights a vibrant mural by Columbia-based artist Lauren Andreu , an artist of Cuban descent whose work brings color, culture, history, and storytelling together.

Located inside the Starbucks near Benedict College, the mural transforms an everyday gathering place into a celebration of people, place, and shared experience. Layered portraits, archival imagery, and bold color invite you to stop for a moment and take in the stories woven throughout the piece.

It’s also a beautiful reminder that public art doesn’t have to live in a gallery. It can meet us where we are—in our neighborhoods, our favorite gathering places, and even over a cup of coffee. ☕🎨

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re proud to celebrate artists like Lauren Andreu and the cultural perspectives that continue to shape Columbia’s creative landscape.

This week, we’re shining a spotlight on OneColumbia for Arts and Culture, a local nonprofit dedicated to strengthening Columbia through the arts and connecting people with opportunities to experience, create and celebrate art and culture in our community.

The arts have a powerful way of bringing people together, creating meaningful experiences and helping our community thrive. One Columbia works to support and promote Columbia’s vibrant creative community while making the arts more accessible and engaging for everyone.

And now, Foundation members have a voice in deciding where our next donation goes!
