Our May Starlight Piecemakers meeting was on Zoom with Diane Murtha. Her program was “License to Play”. She talked about how to move from following a pattern to changing a pattern to making up your own patterns and designs. She is a good speaker and had lots of helpful ideas for enhancing our creativity. And she has published a book “Artful Insights in Fabric”. Find more about Diane at www.dianelmurtha.com

Becky Bruce, of Nevada MO, was our speaker at May Day Chapter. She is the owner of BB’s Stitchin’ Post Quilting Service and Restoration. She cleans and restores quilts, or if they are too badly damaged, she takes them apart and makes new creations. Becky is really creative and has good ideas! We enjoyed her program and trunk show.

Our speaker is Diane Murtha of Iowa. Diane started as a traditional quilter, but in the last 8 years has gravitated to art quilts. Her presentation and trunk show is entitled “License to Play”.

This is the cute little thread catcher we will be making at Sit ‘n’ Sew on Monday. They twist and fold into a little lily pad. There is one machine sewing step that you need to do at home, then the rest is hand sewing. See supplies list & instructions on page 4 of the May newsletter. Willie will teach us how to make these, starting at 9:30 on May 4. We will sell these at the Quilt Show Marketplace.
