VAC's Mission: Responding to the immediate basic needs of individuals and families in our community.

Services
VAC provides financial assistance with basic and emergency needs to low-income people in Boone County. Examples of these basic emergency services include:

• Basic needs & health/wellness: prescription medications, medical or dental co-pays, emergency food, hygiene items, baby formula, and car seats for newborns

• Employment: gas for work, minor auto repair for the employed, required work uniforms, Missouri birth certificates, ID’s, and driver’s licenses

• Housing: emergency motel stays, rental assistance, and air conditioner exchange

Programs
VAC’s seasonal programs include:
• Back to School Fair - backpacks & school supplies
• Holiday Program
• Lunch in the Park
• Summer Fan Program

Our pantry at the Cindy Mustard Resource Center has plenty of sauce, but not enough pasta! A quick, inexpensive meal can help so many families here in Boone County. If you're cleaning out your kitchen cupboard or shopping this week, consider donating a few boxes of dry pasta to help our neighbors in need. We are also looking for canned pasta meals, and mac & cheese.

Shout out to everyone at Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services for hosting a flu clinic at VAC's Waypoint Shelter today. We appreciate our partners who go above and beyond to keep our guests healthy.

Our case managers toured Vidwest Studios today to learn more about their video services, workshops, and individual membership opportunities. VAC's Waypoint Shelter is teaming up with our neighbors across the street to give guests hands-on training in video production and storytelling — skills that can strengthen a resume and open up new employment options. Vidwest also supports local small businesses with headshots and video production services. Collaborations like this, made possible with support from the City of Columbia- Office of Cultural Affairs, strengthen our community and enrich the lives of Columbia citizens, local nonprofits, and small businesses alike.

VAC Opportunity Campus is excited to partner with Black Periodt. Project as they install a With Care Cupboard, offering free menstrual hygiene supplies outside Waypoint Shelter. Black Periodt. Project is a national movement dedicated to eliminating access gaps to essential period products for underserved communities. The With Care Cupboard will be stocked 5pm-8am weekdays and throughout the weekend at 1304 Bowling Street, Columbia, MO.

VAC also provides free menstrual hygiene products through our Basic Needs Services. Stop by the Cindy Mustard Resource Center 9am-Noon and 1-4pm weekdays at 1300 Bowling Street, Columbia, MO.

Thank you Christy! She (and many others) at the Cindy Mustard Resource Center pantry help us distribute food to our neighbors in need. The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri recognized VAC with a Friend of the Food Bank award.

A HUGE HUG(gie) and thank you to our friends, the KiloWhiskey Do Gooders at Veterans United who answered the call to fill our pantry with diapers, wipes, and a generous cash donation to ensure that babies in Boone County stay clean & dry. Thank you to our Voluntary Action Center Board President, Andrew Bach, and everyone at VU Kilo/Whiskey who really know how to PAMPER us.
