COMOGIVES 2025

CoMoGives is a collaborative fundraising campaign for Columbia-area nonprofit organizations that runs each year during December. This year, 179 organizations are participating!

Race Matters, Friends is a nonprofit group united in the struggle for racial equity. We nurture conversations and actions about racial equity, racism, and structural inequality in Columbia, Missouri, the United States, and the world.

We will participate in CoMoGives again, and as every other year, your generosity helps Race Matters, Friends carry out our mission. Please check out our website for more information about our organization (https://racemattersfriendsmissouri.org).

Instructions to contribute:

• Visit Race Matters, Friends page on CoMoGives.com (https://www.comogives.com/organization/Race-Matters-Friends).

• Add a donation to your shopping cart.

• Doing so will help us continue our work again this year, funding equity education and advocacy. This year, we purchased books, copies of local documents, records requests, and subscriptions to help our members and others be better advocates and represent others as their advocates. We helped sponsor other groups, collaborated with other activists and community members, and assisted others with their causes.

Thank you for your incredible generosity and support that makes Race Matters, Friends work possible!

Sincerely,

Race Matters, Friends Executive Team

MU has racism baked into its system, but their history tells me it’s always been that way. With that in mind, the conclusion is that their problem recruiting Black faculty is not a problem to them because they don’t want them there. Mun Choi continues that tradition quite easily and has now expanded it out into our streets. Read about what those who have been under his administration have to say, watch how he reinforces racism, and witness how he takes away freedom of speech with his employees then tell me if we should legislate Mun Choi Day here in Missouri. We vote no!

In Fall 2025, there were just 85 Black faculty out of 2,231 total professors — about 3.8% of the professoriate.

Minor traffic violation focus by the police rarely result in better outcomes for communities, but they do have a devastating impact on our Black, brown, and immigrant communities. Folks, this is white supremacy at work. Stand up to power and advocate for change.
