Veterans United Home Loans employees came together 15 years ago because they wanted to do more. More for their communities. More for their fellow employees who may be experiencing a difficult time. And more for the Veterans they served. Fifteen years ago, the Veterans United Foundation was created.
And this week proved that Veterans United employees are still tackling that same mission with just as much determination and heart as ever.
Yesterday, we wrapped up two large projects at Patriot Place and Welcome Home.
Across both projects, 135 Veterans United employees gave their time to serve local Veterans.
At Welcome Home, a local shelter serving Veterans experiencing homelessness, employees transformed the conference room into a warmer, more inviting place to gather. They also brought new life to the garden areas, creating uplifting outdoor spaces for Veterans, staff and visitors.
At Patriot Place, a housing development for formerly homeless and at-risk Veterans, volunteers delivered and assembled new beds, couches and patio sets for the apartments many Veterans call home.
"I slept so good last night," said Mary Moncrief, a Veteran resident of Patriot Place. "Please make sure the employees and volunteers know how grateful we are."
For Veterans United employees, it was a reminder of that mission that started 15 years ago: showing up for Veterans in ways they can feel.
“While the 15-year projects are specific to some things we’re doing this year, this is the kind of stuff that we’re doing every year,” said Erik Morse, director of people development at Veterans United Home Loans and board president for the Veterans United Foundation.
“It’s a big part of our culture at Veterans United Home Loans, not only to contribute financially to the foundation to enhance lives, but also for us to go out and serve the communities in which we live,” he said.
The Good Goes On. Stay tuned for more.
