The OG Mr. South (coach South’s father) made the 2 1/2 hour drive up to shoot a round with the kids. Avery and Mr. South were neck and neck. Finishing with a 24 for the old geezer and 23 for team captain Avery. Mr. self finish the day 73/75 with a 25 and a patch coming in the first round at North Troy stag.

Avery with her first 25. On a rainy late September day, she started off with a 21/25 and in their second round under a steady drizzle, she shot her perfect score 25/25. Congrats, Avery!

Burgh Fall Trap 2026! North Troy Stag Rod and Gun Club once again has covered the cost of the Clay birds. These kids are the best. Safe, Accurate, and camaraderie! Welcome our two newest athletes, Hunter and Eli! High shooter Jason with a 21/ first round and a 23 second round. Followed by Leah with a 16 followed by an 18. Ethan lead off with a 16 followed by a 17 and Avery off with a 19 and ended with a 14. Great shooting everyone.

Fall Trap is so beautiful! Great weather and some great shooting. Avery and James didn’t miss a beat or many clays. New team members Eli and Hunter demonstrated excellent safe fi***rm handling and both broke birds on their intro lesson. Hunter went on to break 13 in his first round of trap. Maeve did great learning her new Weatherby and Selena was crushing them with the 20 gauge. Looking forward to another great season. The team is always looking for financial sponsors. Please reach out if we would be a good fit. The athletes shoot for free and we are trying not to bombard people with raffles.

Fall Clay Target Team (Trap Team) Interest meeting. 8/20/2026 6:30pm LHS tech lab entrance next to the high school gym. Parents or guardians must attend with their athletes. Returning athletes should attend as well. Returning athletes registration opens 8/3

It's on again!

The Rensselaer County School Trap Championship returns on June 7, featuring some of the best competitors from high schools in the county. The winning school gets to take possession of the School Trap Championship Cup for one year.
The event is sponsored by Rensselaer County and County Executive Steve McLaughlin, and hosted by the North Troy Stag Rod & Gun Club. See you on the seventh!
