Good morning everyone. Our Benefits Advisor looked into what’s involved in getting Dental Coverage through the VA. He sent me a document because he won’t be able to make this Saturday’s meeting. Here it is below:

We had the distinct pleasure of presenting awards to two very deserving Shenendehowa Central School District High School students for our 2025-2026 VFW Voice of Democracy essay contest. Aanya, a 9th-grade student and Emily an 11th-grade student submitted fantastic recorded essays and are in the running for VFW District 3 New York and potentialy Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW- New York awards and monetary prizes.

Well done ladies!!!

Thursday we had the distinct pleasure of presenting 5 very deserving middle school students with award certificates and checks for their essays submitted to our Post for the Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW Patriots Pen essay contest.

The theme for this year was, “How do I show patriotism and support for my country?” and these students “as well as their peers” submitted some incredible compositions. It was hard to just choose five!

A big thank you to Shenendehowa Central School District teachers and administrators for supporting our essay programs and congratulations to Amara, Austin, Kalliliah, Ryan and Sophia!

Earlier this week we had the opportunity to drop off $3000 worth of clothing and 25 boxes of food at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.

The 25 boxes of food were generously donated by the Town of Halfmoon, New York. The clothing, well that comes from YOU! (The amazing and generous citizens of Town of Clifton Park and Town of Halfmoon) our November Poppy Drive allowed us to purchase our budgeted amount of clothing to donate.

When you give us $$ we turn it right around and support local Veterans. It stays local, and every cent helps.

Again, a huge thank you to Price Chopper Supermarkets and Fred the Butcher for allowing us to set up shop at their locations to conduct our Poppy Drive.

We can’t do what we do without you!

We enjoyed our annual Post Christmas party at our lovely neighbor the Grecian Gardens Reataurant in Halfmoon. The prime rib was excellent!

We will be taking these materials to Albany Stratton VA Medical Center real soon!

We’d like to thank the communities of Town of Clifton Park and Town of Halfmoon, New York for their generous support this year and past years. We would be high-dry and without a paddle if it wasn’t for the generosity of this fantastic community!

This weekend we set up at Price Chopper Supermarkets/Market 32 and Fred the Butcher and even with budgets being tighter than ever you gave generously!

We turn every dollar into support for Veterans!

Upcoming: We have a wonderful opportunity to speak to the next generation of Patriots, on Monday 11/10 we have the fantastic privilege of speaking to the students at Shenendehowa Central School District, and it’s something we look forward to every year!

For the members (and prospective members *hint hint*) our meeting times are different for the winter months, moving to Saturday mornings (Next one is 11/15 at 10:30). Come check us out!

Day 1 of the VFW Post 1498 Poppy Drive in the books! We’ll be back out at Price Chopper Supermarkets/Market 32 on Park Ave and Vischer Ferry Rd and Fred the Butcher on Route 9, Halfmoon tomorrow.

Please consider donating as every dollar goes to helping Veterans. From donating to local causes, donating clothing and food for the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center and pouring into the communities of Town of Clifton Park and Town of Halfmoon, New York we put every dollar to use!

We’d also like to thank MVP Health Care for allowing one of our members to do volunteer hours during her workday! Awesome job MVP!

We’d like to thank everyone who came out and joined us for our annual Commander’s picnic at the post today. We’d certainly my like to thank Fred the Butcher for the wonderful fried chicken cutlet trays and the family of Anthony Fortune for the donation of a beautiful American flag themed cupcake.
