🍬 If you see Cub Scouts or Scouts going door-to-door today, don’t worry—they’re not looking for leftover Halloween candy! 🥫

Today, Scouts will be distributing bags throughout the community for our annual food drive supporting the New Scotland Food Pantry.

Please help us make a difference by filling your bag with non-perishable, non-glass food items. Bags will be picked up beginning at 10:00 AM next Saturday.

Thank you for helping our Scouts support neighbors in need and make our community stronger! ❤️

🏕️ **Troop 73 Moves Indoors for the Winter!** 🪢

As the temperatures drop, BSA Troop 73 has moved indoors for the winter, but that doesn't mean the learning and adventure stop! 🔥

Our Scouts have been working on **lashings** — a traditional scouting skill that uses rope to securely tie poles or spars together to build useful structures like tripods, bridges, towers, and camp gadgets.

Lashings teach our Scouts the importance of knot-tying, teamwork, problem-solving, and attention to detail. They’re hands-on skills that come in handy at camp and help build confidence, independence, and leadership along the way!

Even when we're indoors, Troop 73 is continuing to learn, grow, and put the Scout Oath and Scout Law into action. That's the Scout way! ⚜️

⚜️ Service to Others Is the Scout Way! ⚜️
Volunteering is at the heart of Scouting. Whether it’s helping our community, supporting local events, or lending a hand to someone in need, our Scouts learn that even the smallest act of service can make a big difference.
These two Scouts spent their Sunday morning lending a helping hand at the American Legion fall breakfast. Nice job, boys!
Do a Good Turn Daily! 💚

🦅 A Very Special Congratulations to Eagle Scout Andrew Guilmette 🦅

There are some moments in Scouting that you know you will remember for a very long time. Andrew Guilmette’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor was one of those moments.

After years of camping, service, merit badges, challenges, leadership, friendships, and countless memories with Troop 73, Andrew has reached the summit and earned the rank of Eagle Scout—the highest rank in Scouting.

But Eagle Scout is about so much more than a badge.

It is about the young man Andrew has become along the way. It is about learning to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, kind, brave, cheerful, and reverent. It is about learning that true leadership is not about being in front of others, but about serving them and setting an example.

It was especially meaningful to see Andrew surrounded by his family, friends, fellow Scouts, and the many people who have been part of his journey. From those who helped teach and guide him, to the Scouts who shared the adventures with him, each played a small part in helping him reach this incredible milestone.

Andrew, you should be incredibly proud of what you have accomplished. More importantly, we hope you are proud of the person you have become.

Your Eagle Scout journey may be complete, but the values you learned along the way are yours to carry for the rest of your life. Honor. Loyalty. Courage. Service. Vision.

Today, Troop 73 celebrates not just an Eagle Scout, but a young man who has worked hard, served others, accepted challenges, and earned his place in the long and proud tradition of Eagle Scouts.

Congratulations, Andrew. We are incredibly proud of you and can't wait to see where your path takes you next.

🦅 Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.

Congratulations, Eagle Scout Andrew Guilmette!

Remembering September 11, 2001

Today, BSA Troop 73 pauses to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and the countless families, first responders, military members, and communities forever changed by that day.

As Scouts, we believe in remembering history, honoring those who served, and learning from the courage and selflessness displayed in the face of unimaginable circumstances.

During our recent trip to Pennsylvania, Troop 73 had the opportunity to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial. Standing in the very place where 40 passengers and crew members came together and made the ultimate sacrifice was a powerful and humbling experience for our Scouts.

The courage of the passengers and crew of Flight 93 reminds us that heroes aren't always wearing uniforms. Sometimes, they are ordinary people who find extraordinary courage when it matters most.

We are proud to share a special video from Life Scout AJ, who reflects on the Flight 93 heroes and shares his personal experience visiting the memorial with Troop 73.

We hope you'll take a few minutes to listen to AJ's words and join us in remembering the lives lost, the heroes who stepped forward, and the spirit of courage and sacrifice that continues to inspire us.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

🥾🎒 **Troop 73 Weekly Meeting!** 🎒🥾

This week, BSA Troop 73 switched things up from cooking to an essential camping skill: how to properly pack your backpack for the trail!

Our Scouts had the opportunity to learn from two great leaders—our current and former Senior Patrol Leaders, both of whom recently returned from the Philmont Scout Ranch experience. They shared firsthand tips and lessons on packing smart, keeping your load balanced, and making sure you have what you need without carrying unnecessary weight.

From the meeting room to the mountains, these are the skills that help our Scouts become more prepared, confident, and self-reliant outdoors. 🏕️🌲

A big thank-you to our SPLs for sharing their Philmont experience and helping the next generation of Troop 73 Scouts get trail-ready!

Be Prepared!⚜️
