This week, we’re spotlighting Hamburg CSD’s annual Souper Bowl Challenge, a friendly competition that brings school spirit, warm flavors, and community pride together.

Teachers, staff, parents, students, and local school districts faced off with their best soups, chilis, and mac and cheese creations — all for a chance to win the coveted Golden Ladle trophy.

This article explores food neutrality — the practice of avoiding labels like “good” or “bad” foods and instead focusing on balance, variety, adequacy, enjoyment, and the many ways food supports students throughout the day.

This week, we’re spotlighting Hamburg CSD Middle School’s foodservice team and their participation in "Regional Roots: Culinary Training to Enhance School Meals with Local Foods".

This hands-on training helped the team build scratch-cooking skills, explore new ways to incorporate locally sourced foods, and prepare recipes featuring New York State ingredients.

🚚🍎 NYSNA Members on the Move!

Yesterday, NYSNA members from Saratoga Springs City School District showcased their innovative Food Truck program at the Association of School Business Officials of New York Education Summit & Expo.|

The Saratoga Springs School Food Truck serves more than 100 free summer meals each day to children and teens throughout July and August, helping bring nutritious meals directly into the community and reducing transportation barriers for families. During the school year, the truck also supports district events, athletic programs, and community functions, with proceeds benefiting the student food service program.

We're proud to see our members sharing creative solutions that expand access to school meals and strengthen their communities. Great work representing school nutrition and making a difference for students! 👏
