On May 20th, the NYS Capital District Section of the Society of Women Engineers (NYSCD SWE) hosted our 23rd Annual Merit Awards Dinner. We had the privilege of recognizing 41 outstanding high school juniors from 23 local schools, awarding more than $5,000 in scholarships! These junior year students were selected by their school faculty for their academic accomplishments, exemplary character, and dedication to pursuing STEM careers.

NYSCD SWE extends its sincere gratitude to all the attendees for being part of this memorable event, and appreciation to everyone who made the event possible.

A huge thank you to our Merit Awards Dinner Chair, Maya Moss, for her incredible coordination and dedication.

Thank you to the entire NYSCD SWE board for help with event logistics and planning.

Thank you to our keynote speakers, Asli Sahin and Hannah Margavio for sharing uplifting narratives that left a lasting impact, and to Representative Paul D. Tonko for his words of encouragement and video message.

International Women’s Day with NYSCD SWE in March was an absolute blast! 🚀

We spent the day painting tropical skylines and making new friends. A huge thank you to the Clifton Park Halfmoon Library for hosting us in such a beautiful, spacious setting. We’re so grateful to everyone who attended and the team who planned such a wonderful event!

NYSCD SWE recently organized a successful resume review and professional headshot event at Union College on January 20, 2024. Over 20 students, spanning diverse engineering fields such as computer, biomedical, chemical, mechanical, and environmental engineering, participated. Women professionals from seven local companies provided resume critiques and shared insights on engineering career paths.
