This is Elaya.

One of the things that stood out about her at GRIT was her determination. Whether she was working through brazing, electrical, or other camp modules, she showed up with enthusiasm, curiosity, and the kind of focus that says, “I want to get this right.”

Watching kids discover something new — and then want to master it — is exactly why we do this.

At our GRIT Camps, even the lunch break becomes part of the learning experience. Students test the temperature of their food and explore how building science, airflow, and heat transfer concepts connect to everyday life. Showing that building science is truly all around us.

Throughout our lunch, students participate in interactive activities like parachute demonstrations, air tunnels that knock over cups, and flexible tubes that help visualize airflow in action. These hands-on experiences keep students engaged while helping them better understand the real-world principles behind the trades.

Espen was one of our first GRIT students at AC Service Tech's 2025 GRIT Camp. In this interview Espen talks about his experience at the GRIT Camp.

When asked what his favorite part was he stated, "so far it’s probably been building the box, especially with cutting the copper and brazing because I’ve never done that stuff before. I’ve wood-worked my whole life but I’ve never brazed and worked with metal before so it was interesting”.

Saturdays are for making GRIT student badges!

GRIT is headed to Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana soon for a full-day GRIT Workshop led by Ty Branaman.

A huge thank you to George Dvojacki and Audra Peterson for hosting and helping make this happen through their work at Ivy Tech.

More than 20 students will spend a full day exploring trades, tools, building science, and hands-on discovery.

We’re grateful for every chance to put real skills and practical science in front of students.

Kevin Jeter shows what it means to be a GRIT Mentor. He was one of the many amazing mentors at Texcellent A/C Service's GRIT Camp.

After spending time teaching and mentoring students, Kevin shared:
“My wife told me today at church, ‘you look happy.’ I told her I had more fun teaching and mentoring than I have had in 4 years.”

That’s what happens when experience meets purpose. Thank you, Kevin, for bringing your knowledge, leadership, and passion to our students and showing them what is possible through the skilled trades.

The GRIT Foundation believes students learn best by doing. Through hands-on GRIT Camps and GRIT Workshops, students gain real exposure to the skilled trades while building confidence, problem-solving skills, and practical knowledge.

Our interactive learning model connects students directly with industry professionals in small-group settings that encourage questions, mistakes, and hands-on participation. By creating meaningful mentor relationships and immersive learning experiences, GRIT helps students discover the value and opportunity within the skilled trades.
