πŸ“£ UPDATE: We apologize for the confusion! Shortly after this post was published, Dottie's foster family let us know they have decided to make her a permanent member of their family. ❀️

As much as we know some of you may be disappointed to hear she's no longer available, we couldn't be happier for Dottie. Congratulations to this sweet girl and her new forever family! πŸŽ‰πŸΎ

_____________________________________

Dottie is a young Sheepadoodle girl, less than a year old and around 50 pounds of pure personality with THE cutest face! This sweetheart is an active, intelligent dog who is looking for a home that will embrace both her energy and her potential.

She loves long walks, playing with toys, and staying close to her favorite humans. After she's had an outlet for her energy, she settles nicely in the house and is happiest when she's by your side. Bonus? She's not much of a barker!

Like many young doodles, Dottie is incredibly smart and eager to learn. She's currently working on her loose-leash walking and basic obedience skills and would thrive with a family committed to continuing her training. With consistency and guidance, this girl is ready to shine.

Dottie sleeps quietly in her crate overnight, but when left alone she can be vocal and has even figured out how to escape her crate at times. Because of this, we suspect she may experience some separation anxiety. She is a wonderful dog, but she is not a "plug-and-play" pet and will do best with an adopter who understands that she will need patience, structure, and continued training. Dottie is more than just a pretty face - she is a mix of two intelligent working breeds and will need an owner who can meet her exercise and mental stimulation needs.

She does well with other playful, high-energy dogs. We do not know how she does with cats or young children, as her foster home has neither. She is still working on her house training, but many dogs pick that up quickly once they settle into a new home and routine.

Dottie would benefit from someone who is home more often than not. An active household is a must, and a fenced yard is high on her wish list! Her beautiful doodle coat is low-shedding, but will require regular brushing and professional grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best. Commitment to keeping a doodle mat-free is important!

If you're looking for a loyal companion, an adventure buddy, and a dog who will reward your time and effort with endless love and laughter, Dottie may be the perfect match.

A huge THANK YOU to this wonderful young man, James, who recently donated birthday money to Red Barn Rescue to support our mission. And this wasn’t the first, second, or even third time β€” this is the FOURTH year in a row James has chosen to support Red Barn!

James fell in love with our rescue after meeting Davidson (now Tony) - one of Red Barn’s alumni - while Tony was being fostered by Aunt Sandy & Uncle Dave. Ever since then, James has held a special place in his heart for Red Barn and its rescue dogs. Pictured here is James with HIS own rescue dog, Riley ❀️

Thank you, James, for your kindness, generosity, and huge heart for animals ~ We hope you enjoyed your birthday! πŸŽ‰πŸΆ

🚨 KAIN IS ADOPTED! 🚨

Some adoptions just feel like they were meant to be.

Kain (pronounced "Cane", of course!) recently met his forever family, and as it turns out, they are HUGE Carolina Hurricanes fans πŸ’ β€” season ticket holders who have been cheering their team through every game. The same day they met a dog named Kain, the Hurricanes punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals. ❀️

Coincidence? Maybe. πŸ€”

We're thrilled to report that Kain's adoption is going wonderfully, and he is settling into a home filled with love, excitement, and plenty of Hurricanes spirit. (Let's Go Canes!)

Congratulations, Kain! Finding a great home is better than bringing home the Cup! πŸ†

🚨 WE NEED FOSTERS 🚨

These are just a few of the newdogs who have recently arrived at Red Barn Rescue.

Every week, shelters across our region are forced to make heartbreaking euthanasia decisions because there simply aren't enough homes, kennel spaces, or resources for the number of dogs needing help. We all hope that someday stronger animal welfare policies and widespread spay/neuter efforts will reduce the overwhelming number of homeless pets, but until then, rescues like ours do everything we can to save as many lives as possible.

The truth is when our foster homes are full, our ability to help dogs becomes limited.

If you've ever considered fostering, NOW is the time.

🐾 Fostering is FREE.
🐾 All veterinary care is covered by the rescue.
🐾 We can provide food, crates, leashes, beds, and other supplies if needed.
🐾 You provide the love, safety, and temporary home.

Not sure what type of dog would fit your household? That's exactly why we ask foster applicants to tell us about their home environment, family, other pets, activity level, and lifestyle. Once we know more about you, we can help match you with a dog that is a good fit. You can make the difference between a dog getting a second chance or never getting one at all.

Please consider opening your home and your heart. ❀️

Apply to foster today at redbarnrescue.com and help us save more lives!

She's a BEAUTY!

Fizzie is the kind of dog who turns heads everywhere she goes. With her oversized ears, expressive face, and happy-go-lucky smile, this beauty is impossible not to notice.

At about 44 pounds, Fizzie is an active, intelligent young dog who thrives when she has clear structure and leadership. She's housetrained, crate trained, rides great in the car, and loves being included in her person's daily adventures.

Like many confident adolescent dogs, Fizzie can become very excited when she sees new people and other animals. She responds very well to caclm redirection from a confident handler and is looking for an adopter who understands the importance of consistent boundaries and guidance. Fizzie and is SO eager to follow the lead of someone she trusts.

Fizzie loves walks, exploring new places, and then settling down for a well-earned nap in a cozy dog bed. She gets along well with the dogs in her foster home. She has so much potential and will make an incredible companion for someone willing to continue the nurturing structure she's already receiving in her foster home.

🐾 FOSTER (or FOREVER HOME) NEEDED FOR LENNY 🐾

When Lenny's family packed up and moved away, they left him behind. 😒 Now this sweet little guy is safe with Red Barn Rescue, but what he really needs is a soft place to land while we get him ready for his next chapter.

The shelter listed Lenny to be 10 years old, BUT after spending time with him, we think that's a big stretch! Our director believes he's likely closer to 4–5 years old. He's a Havanese mix weighing about 26 pounds, and while he arrived yesterday barking and unsure of his surroundings, he's already settling in nicely. He is dog friendly but we do not know about cats.

This handsome boy needs a good grooming appointment, some routine veterinary care, and most importantly, a foster home where he can decompress and remember what it's like to be someone's beloved companion. Fostering saves lives. When our foster homes are full, we simply can't say yes to the next dog in need.

If you'd like to foster Lenny and are already an approved foster, please message us. If you haven't fostered for us before, apply at redbarnrescue.com!

πŸŽ‰πŸΎ Happy 1st Birthday to Some Very Special Survivors! πŸΎπŸŽ‰

Nearly a year ago, we welcomed a litter of adorable German Shepherd puppies into rescue. What should have been a routine journey quickly became a difficult battle when the puppies were diagnosed with a medication-resistant strain of hookworms.

Despite every effort, we tragically lost one of the litter, sweet Fitz, who remains forever in our hearts. πŸŒˆπŸ’”

The remaining puppies faced months of treatment and testing, before a successful protocol was finally found.

Today, we're thrilled to celebrate their first birthday and the wonderful lives they're living with their forever families!

πŸŽ‚ Beaux (formerly Sieg)
πŸŽ‚ Hogan (formerly Klaus)
πŸŽ‚ Freund (formerly Hans)
πŸŽ‚ Bruno (who proudly kept his rescue name!)

From sweet puppies to thriving, beloved family members, their journey is one for the books!

Please join us in wishing these strong survivors and exceptional boys a very HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY! πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰β€οΈ Thank you adopters!!

🩡 Safe at Red Barn Rescue! 🩡

This handsome boy just arrived today to begin a brand-new chapter.

He was sitting on death row at a shelter that is unable to place dogs who are not spayed or neutered. After his owner surrendered three dogs to the shelter, time was running out for him. Thankfully, we were able to say "yes" and bring him to safety.

Despite everything he's been through, this sweet boy seems to hold no grudges. He's been incredibly friendly, gentle, and grateful for a second chance.

We'll be learning more about his personality, getting him settled in, and sharing additional information soon. For now, we're just thankful he's safe.

πŸ’™ Want to help save the next dog like him?

When our kennels are full, we can only continue rescuing dogs if foster homes step up. Every foster home opens a space that allows us to say "yes" to another dog with nowhere else to go.

If you've ever considered fostering, now is the perfect time. The next life saved could depend on it.

Zumba has officially made her way into a foster home and this sweet girl is already winning hearts. πŸ’› At just 6-7 months old, this Lab/hound mix is full of puppy charm, happy kisses, and playful energy. She loves people, enjoys the water, and is learning all about the good life one day at a time. She is very food motivated and eager to train!

Her foster family says she’s settling in beautifully β€” now all she needs is a forever family to call her own!

Spayed, vaccinated, and ready to meet you. Apply at redbarnrescue.com 🐢

πŸ’™ The Best Part of Foster Care? Watching Dogs Like Beau Bloom!πŸ’™

When Beau first came to us from a hoarding situation, the world felt like a pretty big place. Today, this handsome 3-year-old, 35-pound Blue Heeler mix is showing us more and more of his personality every dayβ€”and it's impossible not to fall in love.

Beau has settled beautifully into foster care. He enjoys long walks, car rides, couch naps, and simply being close to his people. He's housetrained, crate trained, great with other dogs, has learned to live peacefully with cats, and has been gentle around children.

One of our favorite things about Beau is his quiet nature. He's not the dog demanding to be the center of attention. Instead, he's the dog who sneaks into your heart before you even realize it. Whether he's carrying one of his favorite toys around the house or looking up at you with those soulful eyes, Beau has a way of making every day a little better.

He's come so farβ€”but what he'd really love is a family of his very own

Ready to meet the dog who will quietly become your best friend? Apply to meet Beau today!
