๐Ÿ’› SEPTEMBER 1ST. WE GO GOLD. ๐Ÿ’›

Today is the first day of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. And for the next 30 days, we are going to talk about it. Every. Single. Day.
Some days weโ€™ll share facts. Some days weโ€™ll share stories. And some days, weโ€™re going to share the parts of childhood cancer that people would rather scroll past.

The pictures that are โ€œtoo hardโ€ to look at.
The hospital rooms. The scars. The tubes.
The surgeries. The amputations. The blood transfusions.
The fear on a childโ€™s face when they know exactly what is coming when a nurse walks into the room.

We will share the raw, real parts of what Noelle endured.

Because if it is too hard for us to look at, imagine how hard it was for a child to live it?!

That is exactly why we have to advocate.

I have already seen local event calendars and sports schedules announcing nights dedicated to turning everything pink for breast cancer awareness. And please donโ€™t misunderstand me, every cancer deserves awareness, research and better treatments.

But every September I find myself asking:

What about the kids?
Where are the packed stadiums turning gold?
Where are the businesses covered in gold ribbons?

Where is the outrage that children are still being treated with therapies so toxic that surviving cancer can mean living with the consequences of treatment for the rest of their lives?

Childhood cancer treatment can cause hearing loss, heart damage, fertility problems, developmental issues and even secondary cancers later in life.

And these arenโ€™t simply smaller adults receiving cancer treatment. They are growing children. That have the rest of their life to live.

I watched what those drugs did to my child.
I watched her lose her hair.I watched her become sick from medicine that was supposed to save her.
I watched her lose her leg. I watched her undergo surgery after surgery.
๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผI watched her fight through things that most adults could not comprehend.

And ultimately, I watched childhood cancer take my seven year old daughter from me.

So no, this month isnโ€™t just about changing a profile picture or putting a gold ribbon on a post.

Gold is personal now. Gold has names. Gold has faces. Gold is children ringing bells. Gold is children who never got the chance to ring one. Gold is siblings whose childhood changed overnight.
Gold is parents celebrating clear scans while knowing how quickly everything can change.
Gold is parents sitting beside hospital beds begging for one more option.
And gold is parents like us who would give absolutely anything for one more day.

Noelle deserved better. Every child walking into an oncology clinic today deserves better.

Every child diagnosed tomorrow deserves better.

And every child who hasnโ€™t even been born yet deserves better than the treatments we have accepted as โ€œgood enough.โ€

So this September, weโ€™re going to make you see it.

Not because we want to make anyone uncomfortable. But because awareness that stays comfortable doesnโ€™t change anything.

Read the posts.
Look at the pictures.
Learn their names.
Share their stories.
Wear the gold.
Donate to research.
Talk about childhood cancer when September ends.

And when you see a stadium, school, business or community covered in another cancerโ€™s awareness color, ask the question we will continue asking:

What are we doing for the kids?

Because childhood cancer deserves more than one month.

And these children deserve far more than awareness.

They deserve better treatments.
They deserve less toxic treatments.
They deserve research.
They deserve funding.
They deserve the chance to grow up.

๐ŸŽ—๏ธ September is GOLD.

And for Noelle, and every child who has fought, is fighting, or will fight childhood cancer, we will never stop making noise.

Because every child deserves more tomorrows. ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

๐Ÿ’› THIS IS OUR WHY. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

On Noelleโ€™s 9th birthday, we were able to do exactly what the Noelle Strong Foundation was created to do. Show up for children and families facing childhood cancer. The unbearable.

We had the honor of making a local delivery close to home and meeting an incredible young boy whose strength could be seen the moment you looked into his eyes. ๐Ÿ’›

We learned some of his favorite fast food restaurants and were able to surprise him with a handful of gift cards to enjoy, along with some other special things picked just for him. And because he has a love for soccer, we made sure to include an indoor soccer ball something he can enjoy whether heโ€™s at home or passing the time during hospital stays. โšฝ๏ธ
We were also able to gift him an Amazon Fire tablet so he can download one of his favorite games, Roblox, and hopefully have something fun to turn to during the long days that come with treatment and appointments.

But our mission reached even farther that day.

We also received an out of state referral for a young child who had just received a sarcoma diagnosis. Their family was referred to the Noelle Strong Foundation almost immediately after diagnosis.

Her mom shared that during the many initial hospital stays and visits, her child had fallen in love with playing Nintendo Mario Kart.
We were able to bless her with a Nintendo Switch of her very own, along with some extra surprises inspired by her love of all things rainbows and unicorns. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿฆ„

Two children. Two families navigating something no family ever expects to face. One close to home and one states away.
And on Noelleโ€™s birthday, we got to show up for both of them.

This is our reason.
This is our why.
This is our mission.
These are the moments YOU make possible.

Whether they were diagnosed yesterday, are in the thick of treatment, or are facing another long hospital stay we want to show up.

Because every child deserves more tomorrows. ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

๐ŸŽ—๏ธ๐Ÿ’› September is coming. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and weโ€™re just getting started.๐Ÿ“ข

Upcoming events. A local delivery. 9 families to bless this holiday season. And an out of state referral reminding us that Noelleโ€™s story and this mission are reaching farther than we ever imagined. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ

None of it happens without YOU.

Keep showing up. Keep sharing. Keep spreading awareness. Keep saying Noelleโ€™s name. Keep sharing her story. ๐Ÿ’›

Weโ€™re just entering year TWO as a nonprofit, and weโ€™re ready to dream bigger, reach farther, help more families, and do even bigger things in Noelleโ€™s name.

Childhood cancer deserves more than a month and these children deserve more tomorrows. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ
