The National Park Service Plans to Demolish Two Appalachian Trail Shelters. These Hikers Are Fighting Back.

A coalition of hikers and trail advocates have launched Save Our Shelters, a campaign to save to iconic huts along the Appalachian Trail that are slated for demolition.

CLAYTON, GA
The Clayton Appalachian Trail Community is proud to announce that this year we’ve entered into the Rabun County GA’s Adopt-A-Road Cleanup Program. This agreement is open to civic and nonprofit organizations who want to take the responsibility for cleaning litter from designated county roads.
Our roadway cleanup date was on 10/23/26, where volunteers from the Rabun County community came together to remove trash along Warwoman Road. 🙌❤️🙌
The next time you are traveling on Warwoman Road, check out our two new signs! We plan to maintain a section of this roadway leading into the “Clayton” gateway corridor and heading out towards Warwoman Dell.
HUGE thank you to Keep Rabun Beautiful for donating water 💦 to help hydrate us and the Pellegrino’s for picking up the cleanup supplies (orange safety vests 🦺, gloves 🧤 , litter bags, and grabbers) to help keep us safe.

Picked up Meemaw from Pittsburg
and Narrator from Dallas at Dicks Creek Gap.
They are taking a “0”.
Wanted to get a burger (Universal Joint) and spend the night at Days Inn. Needed to resupply, wash clothes at Outdoor 76. Glad you enjoyed your stay in Clayton. 🥾⛰️

Both have hiked the PCT and CPT
