Clayton Area Runners We are a free association of runners and running advocates who have a shared interest in growing the culture and sport of running in Clayton. All are welcome!

Our vision is to encourage and grow the sport and culture of running in the Clayton area through social engagement and community partnerships with local groups, businesses, schools and government. Our runners range from beginners doing their first 5K to Marathon and Ultra-distance runners.

Collecting School Supplies for our runners that are teachers and local schools!

After talking to some teachers other school supplies needed:
*bandaid
*sheet protectors
*rulers
*lined paper
*stickers to give out to students
*index cards

Bring the school supplies to one of our runs!

AUGUST 15th, 2026!

Join fellow CAR Runners and bring your families for this Destination Run at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park, located a short 60minute drive from Clayton!

🌲 We'll get in some trail running starting at 9:00am for as many miles as you'd like through shaded single track trails.

🏖️ The Beach opens up at 11:00am for family swimming along with a Potluck BBQ!

❓So, how does this work??

🅿️ Arrive at park around 8:30am. Meet in picnic area. Upon entering park, turn right just after passing Visitor's Center on the right. Road dead ends into parking lot. Park at the back on the far left.

👟Planning to start run at 9am. Will have Strava routes to share with various mileages.

🍗 Around 11am following the run, we will have a hearty cookout. Afterwards you can hang around and hike or take a dip in the lake. This is a great area to hike and explore with young kids. Dog friendly as well. Quality family event.

🆓 Entrance to the park is free and there is no charge for parking. Restrooms are located at the Visitor's Center just inside the park.

The trails are very well maintained and very scenic. There are some hills. Plenty of great picture opportunities. For questions, contact me! Hoping to have a good turnout. It is a rave running experience.

Can you read this message? Thank your teacher for that! Teachers are amazing humans that are the heart of classrooms and souls of every school! As a way to thank them and get our kiddos prepared, Clayton Are Runners will be collecting school supplies to hand out to local schools next week!

Suggestions of school supplies are on the picture but feel free to buy what you can! Bring them to our runs next week to be distributed!

Are you a teacher? Our CAR teachers will get first dibs of the donated school supplies and the rest will be distributed to local schools!

Thank you so much for your generosity this month! (One not pictured because my phone died)

With your help we were able to fill up 5 blessing boxes around Clayton and provide food for neighbors in our community who may need a little extra support!

Every can, box, and bag donated makes a difference. We’re so grateful to have a running community that shows up not only for the miles, but for each other. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️❤️

After at least 30.19 miles in the month of July, our 3rd annual Tour de Clayton will come to an end tonight Deep River Brewing Company !

Awards ceremony will be at 7:30 following our 6:30 pm run tonight!

Tonight is also our last food drive collection day! Help bring food out to the community!

Great food options to bring out:
>non perishable canned food
>spices
>non-refrigerated milk
>cereal
>sugar
>coffee
>cooking oil
>toiletries such as shampoo, soap, deodorant
>toilet paper and paper towels

☀️ School may be out, but hunger doesn't take a summer vacation.

For many children and families, school meal programs provide reliable access to nutritious food during the school year. When summer arrives, those meals may no longer be available, making this season especially challenging.

That's why we're collecting nonperishable food donations! 🥫 Every item donated helps stock local food boxes and supports families in our community when they need it most.

If you're joining us for a run this week, consider bringing a food donation with you. Together, we can make sure no one in our community goes hungry this summer. 💙🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

If you cannot donate, no worries there's another way you can help! Tell Andrea of a food blessing box location that you know about! This ensures that we as CAR have an updated list of local blessing boxes to help out!
